“I drew you just like this, Dad… so I don’t forget your smile.”
This is my dad, Michael.
My hero.
He wore his uniform with pride…
and somehow, no matter what he carried,
he always came home with the kindest smile.
He taught me how to be brave.
How to be kind.
How to keep going… even when life feels too heavy.
And now… I miss him every single day.
Some days, it still doesn’t feel real.
Like I’m waiting for the door to open
and see him standing there again.
So I draw him.
Every line is my way of holding on.
Every detail is love… and a heart that’s still learning how to live without him.
Because when I draw him,
I feel close again.
Like I’m still his little girl…
and he’s still right here with me.
Maybe this is how God comforts us—
through the memories that never leave,
through the love that somehow stays, even after goodbye.
Dad, I hope you can see this.
I hope you know how much I love you.
If you’ve ever missed someone this deeply,
take a moment to remember them…
and if you believe love reaches heaven, say Amen
