Young Deer Rescued From Irrigation Canal

A young deer found itself in trouble after becoming trapped inside a concrete irrigation canal.
The video shows the exhausted animal standing in shallow water while a rescuer approaches from above.
The smooth walls of the canal make it extremely difficult for the deer to climb out on its own.
Rather than forcing the animal to struggle, the rescue team carefully prepares a safer way to help.
A support device is lowered toward the deer while the rescuer remains calm and avoids sudden movements.
The young animal initially appears nervous, but gradually allows the team to guide it toward a lower section of the canal.
After several careful moments, the deer reaches the edge.
It steps onto dry ground and begins moving toward nearby vegetation.
Concrete canals are useful for carrying water through agricultural areas, but their steep and smooth sides can become dangerous for wildlife.
Small mammals and young animals may fall in and find themselves unable to climb back out.
This rescue provides a positive example of how people can reduce that risk.
For the deer, the most important part of the video is the ending.
Once its hooves touch the grass again, it wastes little time returning toward the natural landscape where it belongs.
