USS Abraham Lincoln: Nearly Impossible to Sink

The USS Abraham Lincoln employs a powerful multi-layered defence system — utilising Aegis-equipped escorts, advanced electronic jammers, 64mm Kevlar armour, and exceptional 30-knot speed — making the 100,000-ton supercarrier nearly impossible to sink.

4 Guided Missile Escorts The carrier is protected by a Carrier Strike Group featuring guided-missile cruisers and destroyers. These escorts are equipped with the Aegis Combat System, allowing them to detect, track, and intercept incoming ballistic missiles at long range, long before they can threaten the Lincoln.

30-Knot Moving Target Powered by two nuclear reactors, the USS Abraham Lincoln can sustain speeds exceeding 30 knots. This high mobility transforms the mᴀssive carrier into a fast-moving target, significantly complicating enemy attempts to strike it accurately with long-range ballistic missiles that require real-time satellite tracking.

Defeats Missiles Up To 50km Away Should any missile break through the escort screen, the carrier relies on its own active air defence systems. It deploys Rolling Airframe Missiles (RAM) and the upgraded Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile (ESSM) to intercept and destroy sea-skimming or ballistic threats at ranges from 14.5 to 50 kilometres.

Fires 4,500 Rounds Per Minute The final layer of defence is the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System. These radar-guided cannons fire at a blistering rate of 4,500 rounds per minute, creating a devastating wall of tungsten armour-piercing projectiles capable of shredding incoming missiles seconds before impact.

Electronic Warfare & Decoy Systems The carrier utilises the AN/SLQ-32 electronic warfare suite to detect hostile radar emissions and actively jam missile guidance systems. It also deploys multiple decoy launchers that release chaff and flares to confuse and divert both radar-guided and infrared threats.

64mm Kevlar Armour Protection In the rare event of a direct hit, the carrier’s robust construction provides critical protection. It features a high-tensile steel double hull reinforced with 64mm Kevlar armour over vital areas to absorb blast impacts.
