WAR IN STRAIT OF HORMUZ: US Navy Strikes Iranian Fleet — 16 Minelayers Destroyed, Gulf On Edge.lh

In a fierce and decisive naval engagement, the US Navy has launched a powerful strike against the Iranian fleet in the Strait of Hormuz, destroying at least 16 Iranian minelayers and several escort vessels. The lightning attack has dramatically escalated the conflict and left the entire Persian Gulf on high alert.

US warships, supported by F-35 stealth fighters and AH-64 Apache helicopters, engaged the Iranian formation as it attempted to deploy naval mines in the critical shipping lane. In an intense 40-minute battle, American forces used precision missiles and naval gunfire to obliterate the minelayers before they could complete their mission. Thick black smoke and burning wreckage now litter the waters of the strait as the surviving Iranian vessels fled toward the coast.

This bold preemptive strike has neutralized Iran’s latest desperate attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz and disrupt global energy supplies. The destruction of 16 minelayers significantly reduces the regime’s ability to threaten one of the world’s most important oil routes, through which nearly 20% of global oil pᴀsses daily.

The operation comes as the US-Iran war that began on February 28, 2026, continues to intensify. Despite suffering catastrophic losses — destroyed nuclear facilities, seized plutonium stockpiles, collapsed underground tunnels, and shattered coastal defenses — the Iranian regime refuses to abandon its aggression. Its repeated threats to close the strait have now been met with overwhelming American naval power.

US forces continue to demonstrate total dominance in the Persian Gulf. With Navy SEALs already operating on captured platforms and Apaches ruling the skies, America maintains ironclad control over this vital waterway. The Iranian fleet is rapidly shrinking, and its remaining vessels are largely confined to port under constant threat.

The Gulf remains on edge as commercial shipping companies monitor the situation closely. However, the US Navy has reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the strait open and protecting freedom of navigation at all costs.

The Iranian regime’s strategy is collapsing. Each new provocation only accelerates its military defeat and deepens its isolation.

This story is developing rapidly. US forces remain in full control of the Strait of Hormuz as tensions stay extremely high.
