In a major escalation of Operation Epic Fury, the United States has launched a powerful airstrike on Kharg Island — Iran’s most critical oil export hub, often called the “crown jewel” of its energy industry.
President Trump personally confirmed the operation, stating: “We just hit Kharg Island hard. It was a perfect strike. Iran’s main oil terminal is now burning. If they keep blocking the Strait of Hormuz, there will be more.”

According to Pentagon sources, waves of B-52 Stratofortress and B-1B Lancer bombers, supported by F-35 stealth fighters, dropped dozens of precision-guided bunker-busters and cruise missiles on the island’s mᴀssive storage tanks, loading terminals, and pumping stations. Satellite imagery shows huge fires raging across the facility, which normally handles nearly 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports. The strike is expected to severely cripple Iran’s ability to sell oil on the global market for weeks, if not months.
The attack comes amid rising tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, where Iranian forces have already destroyed or trapped dozens of tankers and continue to threaten a full closure of the vital chokepoint.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s regime has vowed immediate and “crushing” retaliation. IRGC commanders warned that any further strikes on Iran’s oil infrastructure will result in “all American and allied oil sites in the Gulf burning.”

This bold U.S. move occurs as America’s own military position grows increasingly fragile. The USS Gerald R. Ford remains crippled by repeated fires, while the USS Abraham Lincoln has faced multiple Iranian missile attacks. The United States has already burned through more than $11 billion in munitions in the first week of the campaign, with critical radar systems destroyed across the region and interceptor stockpiles running dangerously low. Israel continues to endure heavy missile pressure from Iran and Hezbollah.
By directly targeting Kharg Island, Washington has dramatically raised the stakes. Many analysts now fear this could trigger an all-out Iranian response, including attempts to completely shut down the Strait of Hormuz and mᴀssive retaliation against U.S. bases and allies.
Operation Epic Fury was meant to deliver quick victory. Instead, it is pushing the conflict toward a dangerous oil war with global consequences.
Will this strike finally break Iran’s will — or ignite a wider fire that consumes the entire region?
