President Donald Trump has issued a direct and uncompromising 48-hour ultimatum to Iran: immediately reopen the Strait of Hormuz and cease all threats to global shipping, or the United States will launch devastating strikes to “attack and destroy” Iran’s power plants and electrical grid.

Speaking with characteristic force, Trump stated: “Iran has 48 hours. If they don’t stand down and allow the free flow of oil, we will hit their power plants and energy infrastructure with a level of power they have never seen before.”
The warning comes as Iranian forces continue to threaten the critical waterway through which nearly 20% of the world’s daily oil supply pᴀsses. U.S. intelligence reports suggest Iran has positioned additional missile systems and mine-laying vessels along the coast, raising fears of an imminent closure.
Iran’s response was swift and defiant. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), under the command of Mojtaba Khamenei, rejected the ultimatum outright. A senior commander declared: “Trump’s threats will not intimidate the Iranian nation. If America dares to strike our power plants, we will shut down the Strait of Hormuz forever. The entire Gulf will burn, and the world will suffer with us. We still have not used our best and ᴅᴇᴀᴅliest missiles.”

The war has now reached a critical and highly dangerous crossroads. Iranian missiles continue to target Israeli cities, while U.S. Marines remain engaged on Iranian soil and American naval forces maintain a mᴀssive presence in the Gulf.
Retired U.S. General Jack Keane described the situation as “extremely critical,” warning that striking power infrastructure could cause widespread civilian suffering inside Iran and trigger a mᴀssive Iranian retaliation.
Global oil prices have reacted with absolute panic, surging past $35,900 per barrel — an all-time record — as traders fear a complete shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz and devastating attacks on energy infrastructure.
As the 48-hour clock ticks down, the world stands on the edge of an energy and military catastrophe. Will Iran heed Trump’s ultimatum and step back from the brink, or is the region about to witness a devastating new phase of this war that could plunge the global economy into darkness?
