Halfway through the family movie, Grandpa fell asleep.

His grandson took a picture.

“Look at him!”

Everyone laughed.

Grandpa woke up.

“What happened?”

“Nothing, Grandpa.”

Later, the grandson posted the picture online with:

GRANDPA CAN’T SURVIVE 20 MINUTES OF A MOVIE.

His mother saw it.

She made him delete it.

Then told him something he didn’t know.

Grandpa had been waking up at five every morning for months.

Why?

To drive Grandma to her medical appointments.

Cook breakfast.

Pick up prescriptions.

And care for her before anyone else woke up.

The grandson looked toward the couch.

Grandpa was asleep again.

This time, he covered him with a blanket.

Then whispered:

“Sleep as long as you want.”
