On March 26, 2026, amidst the vast and challenging waters of the Philippine Sea, Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) conducted a live fire deck shoot aboard the amphibious ᴀssault ship USS Tripoli (LHA 7).
A series of deafening explosions and blazing fire erupted as the Marines continuously fired their weapon systems from the deck. This large-scale live-fire exercise simulated real-world combat situations at sea, helping the Marines hone their weapon handling skills in the harsh Indo-Pacific environment.

The 31st MEU is no ordinary unit. It is the highest-level combat-ready expeditionary force, always maintaining a state of “persistent and combat credible” aboard the ships of the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group. They operate permanently within the U.S. Seventh Fleet’s area of responsibility, continuously coordinating training and joint operations with allies and partners in the region.
The goal of these operations is not only to enhance individual skills but also to strengthen inter-service coordination, enhance deterrence, ensure maritime security, prepare for crises, and conduct real combat operations at any time in the broader Indo-Pacific region.

The permanent presence of the 31st MEU aboard the USS Tripoli affirms the U.S.’s strong commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability. Each sH๏τ fired from the deck today serves as a clear reminder: U.S. Marines are always ready, always on the front lines, and always the most reliable force for our allies in the region.
With the spirit of “Ready to Fight Tonight,” the 31st MEU and Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group continue to ᴀssert their position as one of the strongest and most ready US expeditionary forces in the Asia-Pacific region.
