A 23-year-old rapper has died, his grandparents have confirmed. They spoke to TMZ about the rising star’s untimely death and the outlet reported that “his grandparents tell TMZ he died February 22” sometime at a house in Los Angeles.

TMZ also reported that The LA County Medical Examiner confirmed Luci4’s death. They are unsure exactly what happened.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reportedly told TMZ that they responded to a medical call, but upon arrival they found him already ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. Luci4, real name James Dear, was best known for his viral song BodyPartz and his cause of death has not been announced.

James blew up online in 2021, most notably achieving TikTok fame after making music in the sigilkore genre.

He eventually landed a deal with Atlantic Records and his single BodyPartz went gold, certified by the Recording Industry ᴀssociation of America.

His manager Kayla G took to TikTok to share a message with his fans: “I am devastated to inform you that today, James, Luci4, Axxturel has pᴀssed away.”

“He was truly a leader a king and a musician and a genius.”

“There’s nobody like him and there will never be. We all loved him dearly. Rest Easy. Please allow family and friends privacy and patience during this difficult time.”
