On March 24, 2026, in the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean, U.S. Marines and Navy personnel from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU) conducted an extremely intense live-fire integration range training exercise aboard the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Comstock (LSD 45).
With deafening explosions and continuous gunfire, the Marines and Navy sailors performed integrated live-fire drills, closely coordinating infantry fire, ship-based weapons, and support elements. This was a real-world exercise aimed at enhancing joint operations and helping units hone perfect coordination when fighting in the challenging open sea environment.
The 11th MEU is currently operating at sea with the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group in the U.S. 3rd Fleet’s area of responsibility. This is a flexible expeditionary force, permanently deployed forward, always ready to undertake missions ranging from humanitarian ᴀssistance to large-scale combat operations. Conducting live-fire integration on the USS Comstock not only enhances lethality but also strengthens the unit’s warfighting readiness.

Each live-fire exercise today carries profound strategic significance: honing coordination between the Marine Corps and Navy, testing weapon effectiveness in rough seas, and preparing for any contingencies that may arise in the Indo-Pacific region. This is a vivid testament to the “Ready to Fight Tonight” spirit of the U.S. expeditionary force.
With its strategic location in the Pacific, the 11th MEU and USS Comstock are contributing to the U.S.’s strong commitment to maintaining maritime security, effective deterrence, and readiness to support allies in the region. Each bullet fired is not just a training exercise, but a clear message: when needed, U.S. forces are always ready to act swiftly, accurately, and overwhelmingly.
Semper Fidelis – Always loyal, always ready. That is the spirit that the Marines and Sailors of the 11th MEU are clearly demonstrating every day on the deck of the USS Comstock in the vast ocean.
