In a dramatic and long-feared turning point in the Iran War, Tehran has unleashed its advanced Sejjil ballistic missile for the first time in combat, sending shockwaves through Israeli and American defense commands.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired multiple Sejjil-2 missiles — solid-fuel, two-stage weapons carrying up to 1.5-ton warheads — toward Israel in a powerful nighttime barrage. Israeli air defenses scrambled to intercept the high-speed, maneuverable missiles, but multiple impacts were reported in central and northern Israel. Explosions lit up the sky above Tel Aviv suburbs and areas near Haifa, with significant damage confirmed on the ground.

Military experts have long described the Sejjil as Iran’s “Doomsday weapon” due to its rapid launch capability, extended range, and resistance to electronic jamming. Unlike liquid-fuel missiles that require hours of preparation, the Sejjil can be fired in minutes from mobile launchers, making it extremely difficult to detect and destroy before launch.
Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei’s regime hailed the debut as “a historic achievement” and a direct response to the ongoing U.S.-Israeli Operation Epic Fury. Iranian state media broadcast footage of the mᴀssive missiles lifting off, declaring that “the era of Israeli and American impunity is over.”
The introduction of the Sejjil comes at a critical moment. The United States has already spent more than $11 billion in munitions during the first two weeks of the campaign. Both the USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Abraham Lincoln remain severely limited by repeated fires and missile damage, while critical American radar systems across the Gulf have been degraded. Israel’s air defense network is under immense strain after weeks of sustained Iranian attacks.

The Sejjil’s combat debut raises serious concerns in Washington and Jerusalem. Its solid-fuel technology and heavy payload give Iran a powerful new tool to overwhelm defenses and strike deep inside Israeli territory with devastating effect.
As fires burn in Israeli cities and defense officials scramble to ᴀssess the new threat, one uncomfortable question is now dominating discussions: Has Operation Epic Fury not only failed to destroy Iran’s missile program, but actually forced Tehran to reveal and deploy its most advanced weapons earlier than expected?
The Doomsday weapon has arrived. And the war has just become far more dangerous.
