In a dramatic new claim on day 65 of the 2026 US-Iran war, Iran says it has launched a $3.2 million Noor anti-ship missile directly at the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, one of America’s most powerful nuclear-powered aircraft carriers currently operating in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement claiming the Noor missile — an advanced supersonic anti-ship weapon — was fired at the carrier as part of a “precise and successful” retaliatory operation. Iranian state television aired footage showing a missile launch and claimed the strike “hit its target with devastating effect.”
U.S. Naval Forces Central Command has confirmed that the Eisenhower carrier strike group came under attack by at least one anti-ship missile. The Navy states the incoming threat was successfully engaged by the carrier’s layered defense systems, including SM-6 missiles and close-in weapon systems. Officials say the missile was intercepted before impact, though some debris may have caused minor damage to the flight deck. No serious casualties have been reported.
The Eisenhower, flagship of the U.S. 5th Fleet’s current operations, remains fully combat-capable and continues its mission to secure the Strait of Hormuz alongside the USS Gerald R. Ford and supporting cruisers and destroyers.
This latest Iranian claim comes amid heavy pressure on Tehran. The U.S. has maintained overwhelming force in the region with multiple carrier strike groups, A-10 Warthogs conducting relentless ground attacks, B-2 stealth bombers destroying underground facilities, and over 13,000 Marines supported by V-22 Ospreys now deployed.
U.S. Central Command reports nearly 200 American troops injured across the theater with 13 confirmed deaths. President Donald Trump responded sharply to Iran’s claim, saying: “They keep talking about hitting our carriers. They’ve tried and they’ve failed. Our Navy is untouchable.”
Brent crude prices surged above $134 per barrel as markets reacted to the reported attack on one of America’s premier warships.
