Iran capital Tehran bombarded as missiles rain down on both sides in Middle East

Tehran — Iran’s capital has been shaken by one of the most intense bombardments in its modern history, as waves of U.S.–Israeli missiles struck key military and government installations across the city while Iranian forces launched retaliatory barrages across the region, turning the Middle East skyline into a ring of fire.

Residents in northern and western Tehran reported deafening explosions throughout the night as precision-guided munitions slammed into suspected Revolutionary Guard bases, air-defense batteries, missile depots, and command bunkers believed to be hidden beneath residential neighborhoods. Mᴀssive fireballs illuminated the dark slopes of the Alborz Mountains, while shockwaves shattered windows across several districts. Sirens wailed continuously as thick columns of smoke rose above the skyline.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as traffic clogged major highways leading out of the city. Families packed into cars attempting to flee targeted areas while emergency vehicles raced toward burning buildings. Videos circulating on social media showed flashes of light streaking across the sky followed by thunderous blasts echoing through the capital.

Military analysts say the strikes appear to be part of a coordinated campaign aimed at crippling Iran’s missile infrastructure and command networks. Satellite imagery reportedly indicates multiple strikes near military complexes and suspected underground facilities tied to Iran’s ballistic missile program.

Iranian state media confirmed that several military locations around Tehran were hit but claimed the country’s air-defense systems intercepted many incoming missiles. Officials vowed retaliation, announcing that Iranian forces had launched drones and missiles toward strategic targets across the region, including military installations and shipping routes.

Across the Middle East, air-defense systems lit up the night sky as interceptors attempted to shoot down incoming projectiles. Reports of explosions and drone activity emerged from several countries as the conflict threatened to widen beyond Iran’s borders.

The escalating confrontation has raised fears of a broader regional war. Global leaders are urgently calling for restraint as energy markets react nervously and international airlines begin rerouting flights away from the increasingly volatile airspace.

For millions of civilians in Tehran, the night of bombardment has left a city shaken, its skyline scarred by fire and smoke, and its people bracing for what could come next in a rapidly expanding conflict.
