In a major escalation on Israel’s northern front, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have issued a stark warning that they will soon strike another key bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered the destruction of all remaining crossings in the area to sever Hezbollah’s supply lines and prevent Iranian-backed fighters from moving heavy weapons and reinforcements southward.

The Litani River has become a critical dividing line in the expanding conflict. Israeli officials state that Hezbollah continues to use the bridges to transport missiles and fighters, posing an immediate threat to northern Israeli communities. “We will not allow these crossings to remain operational,” an IDF spokesperson said. “Every bridge still standing is a direct threat to Israeli security.”
This aggressive move comes as the wider war against Iran and its proxies reaches a boiling point. While Iranian missiles continue to target Tel Aviv and Haifa, and U.S. forces engage in heavy operations in the Strait of Hormuz, Israel is now intensifying its campaign to dismantle Hezbollah’s infrastructure in Lebanon.
The IRGC, under Mojtaba Khamenei’s influence, quickly condemned the plan, vowing that any further destruction of Lebanese infrastructure would trigger a “crushing response” from the Axis of Resistance.

Retired U.S. General Jack Keane described Netanyahu’s order as “a necessary but risky decision,” noting that destroying the Litani crossings could significantly weaken Hezbollah’s capabilities but risks drawing Lebanon deeper into the conflict.
Global oil prices remain extremely volatile, trading above $32,800 per barrel, as investors fear the multi-front war could soon engulf Lebanon completely and further disrupt regional stability.
As smoke still rises from previous strikes and the IDF prepares for new operations along the Litani, the world is watching closely. Is Israel successfully containing the northern threat, or is this the move that opens a dangerous new chapter in an already catastrophic regional war?
