U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Iran that any attempt to place naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz could trigger unprecedented military consequences. The warning came after intelligence reports suggested Iran may be preparing to deploy mines in the strategic waterway, a vital shipping route for global oil supplies.

Trump said that if mines were placed and not removed immediately, the response from the United States would be “at a level never seen before.” U.S. Central Command also reported that several suspected Iranian mine-laying vessels near the strait had been destroyed, as forces moved to prevent disruption of international shipping.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints, carrying roughly 20% of global oil shipments.

Any disruption in the narrow pᴀssage between Iran and Oman could send shockwaves through energy markets and significantly escalate the ongoing regional conflict.
