Details of the attack (date):
Time: Friday, March 6, 2026, approximately 5:50 PM.
Victim: Aidan Becker, 22 years old, off-duty hospital security guard.
Aidan was at the train station when he witnessed a 14-year-old boy being attacked by a group of teenagers who stole his phone and power bank.
Aidan immediately intervened, leading the boy away from the danger to protect him. The teenagers chased after and attacked Aidan with machetes and other sharp weapons.
Aidan was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene despite attempts by bystanders and medical personnel to resuscitate him.
Aidan was described by friends and family as a “peacemaker,” someone who hated violence, was always ready to help others, and had a kind heart.

Time: Friday evening, March 13, 2026 (exactly one week after the incident).
Location: Mernda train station and the nearby Mernda Skate Park.
Number of attendees: Thousands (approximately 2,000–3,000 people) gathered holding candles, flowers, memorial signs, and thank-you messages.
The atmosphere was very emotional, with many calling Aidan a “real hero,” “the best of us.”
Aidan’s Mother’s Speech
Aidan’s mother, Natalie Becker, addressed the crowd tearfully:

The family expressed their deep graтιтude for the community’s support and set up a GoFundMe campaign that raised over AUD 100,000 to support the funeral and expenses.
Suspects and Legal Progress
Four teenagers (aged 16, 17, 17, and 18) were arrested the night of the incident.
All are charged with murder and armed robbery.

One of them (18, named Mike Pikos according to some sources) is accused of carrying a machete.
All four are currently being held without bail. The case is under investigation and prosecution by Victoria Police.
