The first trailer for Reminders of Him has been released. The film is an adaptation of the Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. The author’s books have experienced a swell of online support that has seen numerous novels go viral, prompting various adaptations that are in different stages of development.
Reminders of Him, originally released in 2022, follows a woman named Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe), whose boyfriend is killed in a car crash with Kenna behind the wheel. After serving time in prison, Kenna returns to everyday life and hopes to meet the child she shared with her now-ᴅᴇᴀᴅ boyfriend, but she faces pushback from his remaining family and the man (Tyriq Withers) who adopted her daughter. Check out the trailer below:
In addition to Withers and Monroe, Reminders of Him also stars Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, Rudy Pankow, and Lainey Wilson. Hoover ᴀssisted on the screenplay alongside Lauren Levine. Vanessa Caswill directs the feature, which is slated to be released by Universal Pictures on March 13, 2026.
Reminders of Him is the fourth adaptation of Hoover’s work after 2017’s Confess, a short-lived television series, the It Ends With Us adaptation, and this year’s Regretting You. It Ends With Us was really Hoover’s big break into Hollywood, with the film led by Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, but it resulted in a contentious and ongoing legal battle.
Reminders of Him is the first adaptation of Hoover’s work that she also serves as a writer on, and it’s one of two adaptations that will be released in 2026. The other is Verity, based on one of Hoover’s most popular works and starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett.
Hoover is known for her melodramatic romances and Reminders of Him looks to be no different, with Monroe’s Kenna reconnecting with her daughter and falling in love with the man who is taking care of her after Kenna’s boyfriend died. Whether the film will be able to repeat the box office success of It Ends With Us remains to be seen.
Despite middling reviews, It Ends With Us made $351 million at the global box office against a reported budget of $25 million. While Regretting You seems poised to be a more modest affair, Universal pushing Reminders of Him this early certainly indicates confidence from the studio that this could be Hoover’s next big hit.
