The Star Wars franchise is full of impressive feats of power from those on the light as well as the dark side of the Force. However, some are incredibly underrated and aren’t talked about nearly as much as they should be by the Star Wars fandom.

Star Wars is full of jaw-dropping feats of power that are always talked about, like Yoda lifting Luke’s X-Wing or Darth Vader’s hallway rampage. However, other great feats are seemingly less revered for one reason or another. With that in mind, here are 10 feats of power in Star Wars we feel are fairly underrated by the fandom.

Darth Maul’s Survival

Following his defeat at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, it’s quite remarkable that Darth Maul was able to survive his bisection and falling down a large chasm at the end of the first prequel trilogy movie.

It’s been revealed in canon that Maul landed in toxic waste, cauterizing his wounds before he was dumped on the trash world, Lotho Minor. For over a decade, Maul “refused to die”, using the dark side of the Force to sustain himself as he gradually lost his mind, building himself a spider-like apparatus for his lost lower half.

This was no small feat. Although his quality of life was extremely poor, the fact that Maul’s connection to the dark side was so strong that he was kept alive at all is quite notable and is often forgotten as one of Star Wars’ most impressive feats of power.

Luke Skywalker’s Force Projection

Without question, The Last Jedi is one of the most divisive Star Wars movies of all time. As a result, some of the best feats of power seen in the sequel trilogy movie are often overlooked. This notably includes Luke Skywalker projecting himself across the galaxy to face his nephew and the First Order.

While many agree it would have been more satisfying had Luke been physically present to reunite with Leia before his ultimate sacrifice, the act of Force projection itself is no less impressive.

Learned from the force wielders known as the Fallanᴀssi, Luke was able to Force project himself from the first Jedi Temple on Ahch-To to Crait, two worlds that are multiple star systems away from each other. It’s no wonder the extreme feat of power was his last, though it’s often overshadowed in conversation due to The Last Jedi’s controversial narrative.

Yoda Absorbing Dooku’s Force Lightning

Force lightning is one of the most powerful dark side abilities in Star Wars, most commonly used by the Sith Lords. While Force lightning is often reflected and blocked by lightsabers, Yoda changed the game in Attack of the Clones by fully absorbing the lightning unleashed upon him by his fallen apprentice, Count Dooku.

This feat had never been seen before Episode II, a testament to Yoda’s status as a Grandmaster of the Jedi Order. Yoda would again attempt to absorb the Force lightning of Darth Sidious in Revenge of the Sith, though the newly self-appointed Emperor was proven to be much stronger during their duel in the Galactic Senate Chamber.

Darth Sidious Hiding From The Jedi Council

As powerful as Darth Sidious is in the Star Wars franchise, one of his greatest feats was also one of his most subtle.

For decades, Sidious successfully hid in plain sight as Senator Palpatine, eventually being elected as Supreme Chancellor while gradually corrupting the entire Republic. Due to his ability to mask his presence and power in the Force, the Jedi Council was not aware of the true danger Palpatine posed until it was far too late.

Kylo Ren’s Force Stasis

“Force Stasis” is most famous for being featured alongside Kylo Ren’s debut in The Force Awakens, and it’s quite the impressive power despite being somewhat underutilized in the movies. Not only did Kylo Ren display the power to hold his opponents, but he could also freeze blaster bolts in midair, containing their power and momentum before releasing them at will.

Force stasis has been wielded by other notable characters in the Star Wars canon as well. One of the best examples is Cal Kestis in EA’s Jedi games, who very much proves just how valuable the power truly is.

Qui-Gon Becoming A Force Ghost

While it happened off-screen, Qui-Gon Jinn is one of the first known Jedi to retain his consciousness in the cosmic Force after death. A form of immortality unavailable to the Sith despite their desperate search to indefinitely hold their power, Qui-Gon’s learning how to become a Force ghost was groundbreaking.

The late Qui-Gon shared this knowledge with Yoda during the Clone Wars, guiding the Grandmaster to learn from a group of Force Priestesses. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Yoda imparted the same training to Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Thanks to 2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series, we finally got to see Qui-Gon Jinn as a Force ghost on-screen, whose unique study and care for both the living and cosmic aspects of the Force ensured that the legacy of the Jedi would continue long after the Jedi Order was destroyed.

Ezra’s Summoning A Pod Of Purrgil

Throughout the animated series Star Wars Rebels, Ezra Bridger always had a unique connection to animals through the Force. This culminated when Ezra was able to summon an entire pod of hyperspace-traveling space whales known as purrgil to help liberate his homeworld of Lothal from the Empire and Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Seventh Fleet.

Highly intelligent creatures in their own right, it’s remarkable that these purrgil recognized Ezra’s goodness and power in the Force, effectively becoming a living fleet as they destroyed the Empire’s ships before taking Ezra, Thrawn, and the Grand Admiral’s entire Star Destroyer (The Chimaera) to the extragalactic world of Peridea (as seen in Ahsoka).

On Ezra’s part, this feat absolutely proved his brilliant understanding of the living Force thanks to his unique connection with the quasi-mystical space whales.

Grogu Calming A Rancor

Like The Last Jedi, The Book of Boba Fett is one of the most divisive Star Wars shows, making it easy for some of its greatest feats of power to be overlooked. The best example is Grogu putting a rampaging rancor to sleep in the series’ final episode.

Without a doubt, it’s one of Grogu’s best moments, and a wonderful extension of Yoda’s classic “size matters not” lesson to Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back.

Darth Bane’s Sith Spirit (And Rule of Two)

One can argue that Darth Bane enacting the infamous Rule of Two is an underrated feat in and of itself, ensuring that the legacy of the Sith would live on by preventing their own self-demise due to infighting and never-ending power grabs.

By channeling the dark side’s power into a single master and apprentice at a time, the Sith eventually achieved their revenge centuries later, as seen with Darth Sidious and Darth Vader.

However, The Clone Wars showed that Bane also managed to tether his spirit to his tomb on the Sith world of Moraband, haunting the site for eternity. While far more cursed and restrictive than a Jedi’s ability to become a Force ghost, it’s still a fairly impressive feat in its own right.

Darth Revan Resisting The Sith Emperor

Although Darth Revan is part of the official Star Wars canon, much of his specific story and exploits remain part of non-canonical projects known as “Legends”. Nevertheless, one of his greatest feats of power came after his imprisonment by the Old Republic Era’s Sith Emperor.

Revan was kept alive for centuries, while the Sith Emperor Vitiate continuously tried to psychologically break the man who was once both a Jedi and a Sith, while also seeking to use him as a source of knowledge.

However, Revan not only resisted the Sith Emperor using both the light and dark sides of the Force, but also began to manipulate Vitiate’s subconscious, continually delaying the Sith Emperor’s plan to conquer the galaxy in the Old Republic Era.
