The Black Phone 2’s Madeleine McGraw Reveals Her Dream Marvel Role

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has expanded over the years with various heroes and villains making their way to the big screen. When it comes to the Spider-Man mythology, the focus has mostly been on Peter Parker in live-action, alongside many of his supporting characters from the larger Marvel canon.

In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Madeleine McGraw was asked if it is true that her dream role to play one day is Marvel’s Gwen Stacy, a.k.a. Spider-Gwen/Spider-Woman. The Black Phone 2 actress confirmed it to be the case, sharing, “That is literally my dream. That is easily one of my dream roles.”

McGraw added, “I am just such a big Spider-Man fan, and that whole universe draws me in so deeply. I want to do those stunts.” If she were ever given the chance, the 16-year-old star “would do anything to play Spider-Gwen in a movie or any Spider-Man character.”

In terms of upcoming Marvel movies, Gwen is currently one of the key players in the animated Spider-Verse franchise and will be back for 2027’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Voiced by the MCU’s Hailee Steinfeld, the heroine is also eyed to headline a female Spider-Verse spinoff project, but no updates on the film have been shared for years.

The MCU timeline is getting ready to introduce Spider-Gwen, but with a twist. The animated Disney+ series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2, has confirmed that Gwen will be showing up in 2026, with the show taking place on an alternative Earth in the MCU multiverse, although who is voicing her has yet to be revealed.

Currently, there are no known plans to introduce the character through live-action Marvel Studios projects, given that Sony Pictures holds the rights. At the moment, Sony is only working on Tom Holland’s franchise together with Marvel and Disney when it comes to live-action Spider-Man properties.

With Spider-Gwen having emerged as one of the most popular Marvel superheroes over the years, it’s likely only a matter of time before Sony explores her beyond animation. The next MCU film release will be Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
