Bradley Cooper’s Forgotten $177M Action Reboot Surges On Netflix 15 Years Later

The A-Team (2010) starring Bradley Cooper has just become a hit with viewers on Netflix after failing to make a big splash in theaters 15 years ago. Directed by Joe Carnahan, the film serves as a reboot of the 1980s TV show of the same name, with Liam Neeson, Jessica Biel, Sharlto Copley, Patrick Wilson, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson also starring.

Now, the film is evidently reconnecting with viewers, as The A-Team currently ranks as the fourth most popular movie on Netflix in the U.S. In the streamer’s daily top 10, the action reboot comes ahead of тιтles like I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025), Taken In Plain Sight (2024), Vacation (2015), and Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009).

The Carnahan movie falls behind other notable releases, including the Netflix sensation KPop Demon Hunters (2025), The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025), and, in first place, The Perfect Neighbor (2025). The A-Team only just made its way into the top 10, and it’s position could change in the coming days.

The A-Team‘s resurgence in popularity comes after Cooper’s brief appearance in James Gunn’s Superman (2025) this past summer, and ahead of the release of Cooper’s buzzy new directorial effort, Is This Thing On? (2025). The upcoming comedy drama, which stars Will Arnett and Laura Dern, had its premiere at the New York Film Festival earlier this month and will release in theaters in the U.S. in December.

For Cooper, The A-Team came only one year after the mega success of The Hangover (2009). Neeson, similarly, was coming off of a surprise action hit in the form of Taken (2008). Despite these two in-demand stars and a familiar piece of IP, The A-Team was a commercial disappointment, grossing $177 million on an estimated $110 million budget.

The film, which follows a group of former Special Forces soldiers setting out to clear their names after being framed, also wasn’t a big hit with critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a middling 48% critics’ score and a lukewarm 66% Popcornmeter.

The A-Team‘s impressive cast is likely one factor behind its newfound popularity. The 2010 movie marks the only time Cooper and Neeson have collaborated on a project, and both stars remain highly active in Hollywood today. Neeson just recently led the cast of the positively reviewed The Naked Gun (2025) reboot, mixing action and comedy once more.

Though the Cooper and Neeson collaboration was positioned as a franchise-starter, the film’s disappointing box office stalled those plans. The film’s newfound resurgence in popularity on streaming is unlikely to move the needle on the cancelled The A-Team 2, especially as reconvening this cast today would be wildly expensive.

Another reboot of the popular ’80s TV show probably won’t be arriving anytime soon, but The A-Team‘s streaming popularity speaks to the power that streamers like Netflix can have in connecting viewers with films that previously didn’t make a big splash in theaters.
