The Avatar Movie I’m Most Excited For Premieres In Just 3 Weeks

An Avatar documentary with behind-the-scenes footage is coming to Disney+ ahead of the release of the next Avatar franchise movie. This is very exciting because, no matter how impressive the films have been so far, seeing how James Cameron accomplished this incredible task is even more exciting.

This announcement came after Zoe Saldaña said she was excited James Cameron was “considering” releasing a documentary about the making of the franchise. One day later, the Avatar documentary trailer hit, and it seems it will go into detail about the making of The Way of Water. This could be even more exciting down the line.

I’m More Excited For The Avatar Documentary Than Any Of The Upcoming Sequels

While excitement for Avatar: Fire and Ash’s December release is high, this documentary, coming out on November 7, is even more exciting. James Cameron has an intense love of his underwater shooting and his work in both 3D and technological advances in CGI.

Cameron had already made documentaries following his work on тιтanic and The Abyss before that. This included Ghosts of the Abyss (2003) and Aliens of the Deep (2005), in which he took his cameras deep underwater. It should be exciting to see him at work, behind the scenes, making something as intensive as the Avatar movies.

Saldana said the new documentary is supposed to take people behind the scenes to see the actors performing in every scene, and that this franchise wasn’t something built on a computer. The trailer alone is an exciting look at the process, from the actors to the crew behind the scenes.

This isn’t to say that Avatar: Fire and Ash won’t be great when released. There is a lot of excitement about the upcoming movie, but it is a little concerning, wondering how different it will be from the first two films, with the law of diminishing returns about to set in. The new Avatar has a lot to prove.

A Full Documentary Of The Entire Avatar Franchise Would Be James Cameron’s Biggest Undertaking Yet

That said, the idea of this Avatar documentary brings up an even more exciting prospect for the future. James Cameron has five movies planned, with the last scheduled to arrive in theaters in 2031. That is five films that feature well over 12 hours of storytelling, if not more.

Cameron is clearly excited about both the story and the technological advancements he is making while creating his franchise. That means that an even more exciting proposition is for Cameron to release a giant making-of documentary at the end of it all, with a look at his creation of all five movies in the series.

There are some great documentaries of this type, including Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th. There was even a brilliant look at one movie with Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse. These are not only great for film students, but for mainstream audiences to look behind the curtain.

It could become one of James Cameron’s most intensive undertakings, as he could create a look at a franchise that already contains two of the highest-grossing movies of all time, showing how it was made and the love and dedication the director put into this journey. Avatar deserves no less once the story comes to a close.
