Everything Everywhere All At Once Directors’ Next Movie Gets New Release Date

The next movie from the Oscar-winning directing duo behind Everything Everywhere All at Once, known as The Daniels, is back on the release schedule. Though movie fans will have to wait a couple of years to watch it.

Multiple publications have shared that Universal Pictures has given the as-yet-unтιтled event film from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert a new release date of November 19, 2027. That comes after the film was bumped from its previous release date in 2026 because Steven Spielberg’s own secretive event film was delayed and pushed to June 12, 2026.

This will be the first film for The Daniels since Everything Everywhere All at Once, which made $142 million worldwide on a reported $15 million budget, and won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Michelle Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), and the Daniels won Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

There are no plot details or cast attachments for The Daniels’ event film, though now that it is back on Universal Pictures’ release calendar, more information about the project could be coming in the near future.

Following the release of Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Daniels signed a long-term development deal with Universal Pictures. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in 2022, they spoke about their move from the indie film community to having the backing of a major studio. Scheinert admitted:

We thrive on being told no, in moderation… I’m nervous about having a budget that make us not have those tough conversations

Prior to making Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Daniels made their feature debut with the 2016 film Swiss Army Man, which is occasionally simply referred to as the movie with a post-Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe as a farting ᴅᴇᴀᴅ body, but was well received by critics. Outside of film, they have directed a number of notable TV episodes.

While The Daniels have not made a film since 2022, they did return to television, getting involved in the Star Wars universe as they directed an episode of the Disney+ original series Skeleton Crew.

Hollywood is lining up a number of big movies for 2027. From Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow to the return of the Star Wars franchise on the big screen with Star Wars: Starfighter, there are at least 15 blockbusters that could make 2027 one of the most exciting in recent memory.

Whether The Daniels’ event film can match the box office potential of some of those movies, it will certainly be one of the more notable 2027 releases.
