A Quiet Place Part III has had its release date delayed once again. The fourth movie in the horror franchise, Part III was first announced in 2022 and eyed a 2025 release date before being pulled from the calendar. Earlier this year, John Krasinski announced he was returning to direct Part III, and shared a release date of July 9, 2027.
ᴅᴇᴀᴅline has now reported that A Quiet Place Part III is moving again, but thankfully only a few weeks. The film is now set to premiere in movie theaters on July 30, 2027. Had Part III stayed on July 9, it would have shared the release date with James Gunn’s Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow. As of writing, A Quiet Place Part II is the only major movie dated for July 30, 2027.
In addition to directing, Krasinski is writing and producing A Quiet Place Part III, just as he did with the first two entries of the franchise; 2024’s prequel, A Quiet Place: Day One, was directed by Michael Sarnoski. While no plot details or cast members are announced at this time, as the film is dubbed Part III, the expectation is that it will continue the story of the Abbott family.
What This Means For A Quiet Place Part III
A delay of three weeks should not get fans of the A Quiet Place franchise overly worried about there being anything wrong with the development of the movie. This is almost certainly a case of release date gymnastics.
When A Quiet Place Part III announced the July 9, 2027, release date, the fact that the Man of Tomorrow release date would be on the same date was not yet known. While the first three A Quiet Place films have all been strong box office performers, totaling $900 million worldwide between them, the studio and producers likely wanted to get out of the way of the Superman sequel’s potential box office dominance.
The July 30 release date still means that A Quiet Place Part III will have a prominent place in the 2027 summer blockbuster season.
2027 Has Some Major Movies Lined Up
It won’t just be A Quiet Place Part III or Man of Tomorrow that should have movie fans excited in summer 2027 either. The slate of blockbusters on the 2027 schedule is poised to make that year one of the biggest in movie history.
Focusing specifically on the summer blockbuster season, from May to August, other films currently scheduled include The Legend of Zelda, Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter, the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon 2, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, and Shrek 5.
Outside the summer months, you also have the likes of The Batman Part II, Frozen 3, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, and Avengers: Secret War.
