LEGO has released the “sweetest” AT-AT ever as the perfect Star Wars Christmas gift. That said, we’re also very excited about what’s likely to hit the shelves next year when it comes to brick-built Imperial walkers, a classic and frequent staple of the LEGO Star Wars line since 1999.
Released on October 1st (alongside LEGO’s mᴀssive UCS Death Star for LEGO Insiders), the new Gingerbread AT-AT Walker (40806) is a super cute playscale build, reimagining the classic Imperial AT-AT for the holidays.
Featuring 697 pieces, the smaller-sized AT-AT comes with an impressive gingerbread minifigure of Darth Vader boasting a frosted cape, along with a decorated fireplace, stockings, and wreaths for the interior. Priced at $59.99, the new Gingerbread AT-AT looks to be a great Christmas gift, though I’m fully expecting a much bigger version in 2026 thanks to The Mandalorian and Grogu.
We’re Expecting A Much Bigger AT-AT Next Year
Thanks to some recent LEGO rumors, a full-sized Imperial Walker does feel likely for next year. As with most new Star Wars releases, a whole wave of models inspired by the new Mandalorian and Grogu movie is coming, and evidence has been found for upcoming sets with price tags and piece counts that do line up with past AT-ATs.
The last (non-holiday) playscale AT-AT was released in 2020, while 2021 saw the release of LEGO’s mᴀssive UCS model.
Based on the trailer alone, which features Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin taking down a convoy of Imperial AT-AT walkers on a mountainside. Clearly, a model inspired by the scene does feel likely even if we didn’t have the rumors/leaks that seemingly back it up.
Either way, there’s definitely more than enough cause to hope for a more canonically accurate LEGO AT-AT in 2026 (as cool as this year’s new Gingerbread Walker most definitely is). It truly is a great set for the holidays, especially considering its wide release (unlike 2019’s Candy Cane-styled Christmas X-Wing, which was only for LEGO employees).
