Disney Removes A Phase 6 Marvel Movie Release Date & It Debunks 5 Major MCU Theories

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has just seen a movie be removed from its release schedule, which debunks a few major theories about the franchise’s future. Marvel is getting ready to have a busy couple of years at the box office. After the MCU’s 2025 movies struggled to perform in theaters, the MCU has three juggernauts to be released soon.

In 2026, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday will bring back two of the MCU’s biggest franchises. Then, 2027 will end the Multiverse Saga with Avengers: Secret Wars. All three films have the potential to end up on the list of the MCU’s best movies. However, another film could have made them company, but that will not be possible after an update.

An Important MCU Movie Will No Longer Happen

As part of a production slowdown, fewer MCU movies are going to be released every year. 2026 will see two films arrive in theaters, while 2027 will only have one, Avengers: Secret Wars. However, the year was also meant to include two MCU movies until recently, when Disney removed an MCU movie from Marvel’s schedule (via Variety). Its release date was July 23, 2027.

While the film was simply known as an “Unтιтled Marvel” movie, it would have been important no matter which MCU hero it focused on. The reason for that is that the movie was set to be the MCU’s only film to be released between the next two Avengers movies. The MCU movie has been replaced by the sequel to The Simpsons Movie on Disney’s schedule.

The MCU’s Slate Update Debunks 5 Major Marvel Theories

With there not being an MCU movie to bridge the gap between the next two Avengers entries, a few major MCU theories have been confirmed not to happen. For instance, after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness teased the hero stopping an incursion with Clea, many believed that Doctor Strange 3 would be the mystery 2027 MCU movie.

The multiversal aspect of the story and the fact that Benedict Cumberbatch was not confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast helped that theory. Similarly, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch is rumored to come back in one or both of the MCU’s upcoming Avengers movies. A Wanda Maximoff solo movie could have explained her return and bridged the gap between Avengers movies perfectly.

The MCU movie removal also makes it seem like Mahershala Ali’s Blade movie, if it happens, will have to wait until the Multiverse Saga is over. Likewise, Black Panther 3 is also probably a 2028 movie despite some recent teases, and the rumored World War Hulk movie is not coming in 2027. The Marvel slate shift ends all these major MCU theories.
