DiCaprio's Shocking Nolan Fave: Not Inception!

Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed his favorite film by director Christopher Nolan, which is surprisingly not Inception despite DiCaprio being the lead.

DiCaprio starred in Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi thriller Inception (2010) as Dom Cobb, a professional thief with a unique and unusual way of committing crimes. Cobb steals information from his targets by entering their dreams. Alongside Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Ariadne (Elliot Page), and others, Cobb’s haunting past and corporate espionage risk everything he’s ever loved.

In an interview with Collider, alongside actor Benicio del Toro, DiCaprio and del Toro revealed their favorite film by Christopher Nolan:

DICAPRIO: “Dark Knight.”

DEL TORO: “Dark Knight. Yeah. Batman.”

What Leonardo DiCaprio’s Favorite Christopher Nolan Film Means

Despite starring in Inception, DiCaprio chose The Dark Knight as his favorite Nolan movie. The Dark Knight, released in 2008, was part of a trilogy and the most successful installment.

The DC adaptation won many awards, including an Academy Award for Best Actor to the late Heath Ledger for his iconic role as the Joker. It grossed over $1 billion worldwide at the box office and is often regarded as one of the most successful films of all time.

Inception was also successful in its own right and grossed over $830 million worldwide at the box office while also winning a few Academy Awards. Unfortunately, DiCaprio missed out on major acclaim, and many are still left puzzled by the rather confusing sci-fi.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s filmography is widely respected, and Inception is regarded as one of his best performances alongside Catch Me If You Can (2002), тιтanic (1997), Django Unchained (2012), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

While it may be a surprise to hear DiCaprio prefers The Dark Knight to Inception, it shows his appreciation for all of Nolan’s work and arguably one of the most successful movies he’s made.

I, for one, am not ashamed to say The Dark Knight is my favorite Nolan movie, as it was a major turning point for superhero films, as well as Ledger’s unforgettable performance as the deranged Joker. It still remains a staple of a perfectly executed movie as Christian Bale transformed into an iconic rendition of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Both del Toro and DiCaprio agreed unanimously on Nolan’s The Dark Knight, but perhaps DiCaprio’s awards snub for his performance in Inception left a sour taste in his mouth. Either way, Inception remains a true fan-favorite due to its mind-bending CGI and incredible soundtrack by the legendary Hans Zimmer.
