Netflix and Millie Bobby Brown may be teaming up to bring the story of Olympian Kerri Strug to screens. Netflix and Brown have a long partnership, with the actress starring in the streamer’s hit series Stranger Things, as well as a number of Netflix movies, including the Enola Holmes franchise, Damsel, and The Electric State.
ᴅᴇᴀᴅline has reported that Brown is in final negotiations to take on the role of Strug in the movie Perfect, which is being directed by Gia Coppola, with a script by Ronnie Sandahl. Netflix, meanwhile, is expected to land the project.
Kerri Strug was a member of the 1996 US Olympics gymnastics team, who helped deliver the gold for her team by performing on the vault while dealing with a bad ankle injury. It remains one of the most iconic moments in Olympics history, often shown when the summer Olympics come around every four years.
In addition to starring in Perfect, Brown would produce under her PMCA production banner, along with lead producers Nik Bower of Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski of Magna Studios.
Reports says that Perfect plans to shoot in spring 2026.
Upcoming Millie Bobby Brown Projects
Perfect joins a number of other projects that Brown has on her docket. Her upcoming slate of movies includes Enola Holmes 3; Just Picture It, a rom-com with Gabriel LaBelle, both of which she is working with Netflix on. In recent years, she has also been attached to other Netflix movies, The Thing About Jellyfish and The Girls I’ve Been, though there haven’t been many recent updates about those projects.
Of course, Brown’s most notable upcoming project is Stranger Things Season 5, the final season of Netflix’s hit sci-fi show. Broken up into three parts, Stranger Things Season 5 Volume 1 premieres on November 26, Volume 2 on December 25, and the Stranger Things Season 5 finale premieres on December 31.
Our Take On Millie Bobby Brown As Kerri Strug
Because of the popularity of Stranger Things and the success of some of her Netflix movies, particularly Enola Holmes, Brown is one of the most high-profile young actresses in Hollywood right now. Taking on the role of Olympic legend Kerri Strug in Perfect immediately becomes one of her most interesting roles; it will be one of her most straightforward dramatic roles after playing mostly in the sci-fi and fantasy genres.
It’s also fascinating the partnership that Brown and Netflix continue to have. Since Stranger Things premiered in 2016, the only movies that Brown has worked on that weren’t with Netflix were Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong.
As mentioned, all the upcoming projects that she is connected to, including Perfect, also have a Netflix connection.
