Timothy Olyphant Clarifies Involvement In Netflix Sequel To Quentin Tarantino’s Oscar-Nominated Comedy

Timothy Olyphant has issued a clarification on whether he has been cast in the upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel. Olyphant starred in Tarantino’s 2019 movie as James Stacy, the star of a TV show that Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton appears in during the course of the movie.

While doing press for the TV show Alien: Earth, Olyphant hinted that he may have a role to play in OUATIH sequel, The Adventures of Cliff Booth, which has a script by Tarantino but is being directed by David Fincher. The cast of the movie includes Brad Pitt reprising his Oscar-winning role as Cliff Booth, as well as Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Corey Fogelmanis.

However, in a recent interview with ScreenRant, Olyphant pumped the brakes on his involvement with The Adventures of Cliff Booth:

“SR: Well, before I go, you’re working on the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sort of spinoff sequel thing with David Fincher. Can you say anything about that? How is it different working with Fincher in this context versus Tarantino? Are you on set right now? Is that what’s going on?

Timothy Olyphant: No, I appreciate you asking. I’m in a lovely island of Nantucket working on a thing called Five-Star Weekend with America’s favorite, Jennifer Garner. The Fincher thing, my involvement in that, I think that’s just a rumor that I started. I have not stepped foot on that set, but if and when I do, I’ll report back to you.”

What This Means For Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Sequel

With Olyphant clarifying his involvement in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, there are no actors that appeared in OUATIH that are officially set to appear in the sequel, outside of Pitt, of course.

Details about returning characters could be under lock and key, and someone like DiCaprio could show up as a surprise. However, interest in most things involving this movie’s production is high, including the spotting of a Tarantino Easter eggs on the set, so if a returning cast member did appear on set, there’s always the chance it would have been reported.

Until proven otherwise, we may just have to ᴀssume that The Adventures of Cliff Booth is not going to feature any other returning characters from OUATIH.
