Christian Bale’s Frankenstein’s monster finds his bride in Jessie Buckley in the first trailer for the upcoming horror movie The Bride! Written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, this is a new twist on the classic monster movie The Bride of Frankenstein. It is going to hit movie theaters on March 6, 2026.
The Bride! follows Bale’s lonely Frankenstein as he travels to 1930s Chicago in search of a companion. With the help of Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening), the two revive a murdered young woman. What follows is a journey of murder, possession, and a wild, combustible romance. Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz also star in the Warner Bros. movie.

The trailer sees Bale’s Frankenstein monster ᴀssure Buckley’s Bride that everything they did to bring her back was done on purpose. Then it showcases some of the pair’s journey through the world, as they are hunted down and have to fight to preserve their freedom. The trailer ends with Buckley’s Bride asking what her name is, hinting that her character’s journey will likely involve some self discovery along the way.
Movie Fans Finally Get First The Bride! Trailer
The Bride! was originally supposed to come out on October 3, 2025, but the movie was delayed to 2026 after early reactions to the movie weren’t positive. That got Gyllenhaal’s movie away from Guillermo Del Toro’s own Frankenstein movie, releasing October 17 in movie theaters before premiering on Netflix on November 7. Though the screening of The Bride! footage at CinemaCon in April was a sign Warner Bros. still had faith in the movie’s potential.
Now movie fans are able to get their first look at The Bride! with this trailer, which arrives just a couple of weeks ahead of when the movie was initially going to premiere.
Our Take On The Bride! Trailer
Maggie Gyllenhaal earned plenty of acclaim for her directorial debut The Lost Daughter, but it is clear right off the bat that The Bride! is going to be a very different movie. I, for one, am here for it. The trailer previews a unique and highly stylized look. Add in the movie’s cast of brilliant actors, and it could be a recipe for something really special.
Of course, if the early reactions prove right, then it could just as easily be a big swing that falls short. However, I’m all for a filmmaker like Gyllenhaal taking a chance on something.
At the very least, The Bride! trailer has me intrigued, making the new take on the classic monster movie one of the more intriguing movies for the first few months of 2026.
