The trusty vessel of Din Djarin officially returns in the new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, though many viewers are wondering how this can possibly be the case. The Razor Crest was famously blown to bits by Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian season 2, grounding Din Djarin to Tython after the Imperial Remnant leader captured Grogu.
In The Book of Boba Fett, Din Djarin intended to get another Razor Crest from Peli Motto, but he was instead won over by an N-1 starfighter after a thrilling test drive. This is the ship he’s been using up until this point, but this isn’t the ship that’s featured in The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s new trailer.
Din Djarin Has A New Razor Crest
Din Djarin is back in the pilot’s seat of a Razor Crest in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and although the sight is very familiar, it’s clear that this isn’t the same exact Razor Crest he once flew in The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2. This ship is much too shiny for that to be the case.
It is, however, undoubtedly clear that this is truly Din Djarin’s own ship. When it was first teased that a Razor Crest was involved in the movie, some thought it could be one belonging to the New Republic alone, but Din’s active role in flying it proves that it truly is his own.
Why Din Djarin Needs A New Razor Crest
The Razor Crest returning isn’t just a nostalgic walk back to the show’s beginning, though. The N-1 was never meant to be suitable for Din Djarin’s livelihood, especially not as a father to Grogu. It was a mere mode of transportation from one point to another, along with some impressive dogfighting abilities.
The Razor Crest, in comparison, offers a lot more room for Din Djarin and Grogu to live on board, in addition to having room for the bounties they will be bringing in on the New Republic’s behalf. The N-1 barely had room for the two of them alone, much less the various bounties they would be collecting.
The other benefit of the Razor Crest that made it so useful for Din Djarin as a bounty hunter is that it’s essentially a ghost to both the New Republic and the fallen Empire, as it predates both their systems. This will make it easy for Din and Grogu to fly under the radar in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026.
