Avengers: Doomsday Gets Major Filming Update After 5 Months

After five months of filming, Avengers: Doomsday has officially wrapped filming. The penultimate chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga, the film stars franchise mainstay Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, as well as Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Leтιтia Wright, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, Hannah John-Kamen, and David Harbour.

Notably, due to the multiversal stakes, Doomsday is also set to bring back several cast members from the original X-Men film series, including James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, and Rebecca Romijn. It is slated for release on December 18, 2026.

What Avengers: Doomsday Wrapping Filming Means

Production on Avengers: Doomsday began in April 2025, with its overall filming lasting about five months. This is a standard production timeline for an Avengers movie, as both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame each took between five and six months to film. However, the latter did undergo reshoots after its initial production.

Though principal filming has wrapped for Doomsday, it will still be in post-production for quite a while. MCU movies have to depict powers and locations that require extensive visual effects, so this period will likely overlap significantly with the film’s promotional cycle.

To give a relevant example, Infinity War wrapped in July 2017, and its first trailer was released on November 29, 2017. This four-month gap meant that the trailer most likely debuted as VFX artists were still perfecting the film.

It was also roughly five months before its release. As such, a trailer for Doomsday could debut as soon as February or as late as July of next year.

Marvel Studios has already started promoting Avengers: Doomsday even prior to the news that it wrapped. From the Russo Brothers announcing that “Doomsday is coming” to a lightshow seeming to unveil the MCU’s Doctor Doom, more teases for the film are trickling out.

Now that filming has wrapped, promotion for the film is likely to ramp up in the coming months. However, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming out next July, Doomsday may take a backseat until after that release. Either way, Marvel fans rejoice: we are one step closer to the next major Avengers film.
