Bring Her Back has set its official streaming release date. The A24 horror movie is the sophomore feature from directors Danny and Michael Philippou, whose 2023 debut Talk to Me is currently A24’s fourth highest-grossing movie in history. Their new movie stars Sally Hawkins as a woman with sinister secrets who fosters grieving siblings (Billy Barratt and Sora Wong).
Bring Her Back reviews were glowing, earning it a Certified Fresh score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. It has a similarly strong score of 79% from audiences on the platform’s Popcornmeter. In theaters, it grossed $39.1 million worldwide against a reported budget of just $15 million.
HBO Max has now officially announced that Bring Her Back will begin streaming exclusively on the subscription platform on October 3. That date comes roughly four months after the movie originally premiered in theaters on May 29.
This will be followed by the movie’s debut on HBO linear on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. ET, which is part of a double feature that kicks off with Talk to Me at 6:20 p.m. ET.
What This Means For Bring Her Back
This streaming release date could be very beneficial to 2025’s Bring Her Back. For one thing, its October release date is perfectly timed to coincide with the beginning of the Halloween season. Horror movies tend to perform well during the lead-up to October 31, both in theaters and at home.
Additionally, there are not many major horror movies set to premiere in theaters in October 2025. The biggest тιтle of the month will be Blumhouse’s sequel Black Phone 2, but that does not debut until October 17, two full weeks after Bring Her Back premieres on HBO Max.
This lack of major compeтιтion could allow the horror movie to thrive, drawing in the majority of this October’s horror-hungry audience during the first two weeks of the month.
Our Take On The Bring Her Back Streaming Release Date
Streaming success could be a boon after a somewhat underwhelming box office for Bring Her Back compared to Talk to Me. Although its estimated break-even point is roughly $37 million, which is a total that it cleared in theaters, it was not a hit at the level of the Philippou Brothers’ 2023 movie, which grossed $92 million against $4.5 million.
If it takes in solid streaming revenue, Bring Her Back could turn its small profit into a tidy sum that could encourage A24 to collaborate with the directors on another original horror movie after the upcoming Talk to Me 2, which is currently in development.
