The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Has To Introduce This Key Video Game Character Now

The тιтle of The Super Mario Bros’ Movie sequel has finally been confirmed as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, drawing inspiration from another of Nintendo’s popular video game series. The Super Mario Galaxy games bring the beloved plumber to the stars for an interstellar odyssey across several planets. It also introduced some of the Super Mario franchise’s most popular characters.

The тιтle of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie suggests that Mario will be leaving the Mushroom Kingdom in the upcoming sequel and exploring some key storylines from the Galaxy video games. Interestingly, this also leaves the door open for one fan-favorite character to make their long-awaited entrance into the movie series.

Rosalina Must Be Introduced In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Rosalina was notably missing from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the sequel’s тιтle essentially confirms that she’ll be introduced in the sequel. The princess is most closely ᴀssociated with the Super Mario Galaxy games, where she plays a mᴀssive role in the story and even helps Mario through several levels.

If the next movie is going to be a true, authentic adaptation of Super Mario Galaxy, then Rosalina has to be one of the film’s main characters. She’s the figurehead of this video game franchise. After all, it is Rosalina who provides Mario with the resources he needs to travel through space and rescue Peach from Bowser’s grasp (again).

Many fans ᴀssumed that Rosalina would be introduced in a different upcoming Nintendo movie, leaving room for Super Mario Bros 2 to remain in the Mushroom Kingdom and tie up several of the loose ends from the original film. The decision to jump right into Super Mario Galaxy is an interesting one, which has its own set of unique risks.

While the prospect of introducing Rosalina and seeing Mario undertake his journey through space is hugely exciting, there are still so many questions that audiences have following The Super Mario Bros. Movie that need to be resolved. The next movie will have some major heavy lifting to do if it’s going to pull these threads together for the burgeoning franchise.

It’s also possible that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will offer a looser interpretation of the game’s storyline, blending the world of the first movie together with Rosalina’s narrative instead of simply replacing it. The teaser trailer definitely implies that Mario will be taking to space at some point, but it’s too early to speculate exactly how Rosalina is involved.
