A well-regarded Netflix blockbuster has just hit an unprecedented viewership milestone. The streaming service is known for their original movies and television series. Some of their biggest hits, including Wednesday, Stranger Things, and Bridgerton, have been watched by hundreds of millions of subscribers.
While many Netflix movies are installments in pre-existing franchises, such as Glᴀss Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, the overwhelming majority of their most popular offerings are original stories, including the action-comedy Red Notice, the TSA thriller Carry-On, and their newest hit, which has reached untold heights.
KPop Demon Hunters Is Continuing To Surge On Netflix
2025’s KPop Demon Hunters has smashed another Netflix record. The animated fantasy musical follows Huntr/x, a KPop girl group who are secretly demon hunters who must face off against the demonic boy band, Saja Boys. The movie has been a critical smash, earning a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 96% with an audience score of 98%.
It has also been a record-smashing commercial success, quickly rising to become the most-watched movie of all time on Netflix. Additionally, multiple songs from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack have broken records on the Billboard H๏τ 100, with “Golden” even hitting No. 1 for three consecutive weeks as of the time of writing.
The latest streaming update from Netflix reveals that KPop Demon Hunters has reached a grand total of 291.5 million views, which have collectively accumulated 485.8 million viewing hours. It is currently on track to earn more than 300 million views by the end of its first 91 days, which is the period of time measured by the platform’s all-time chart.
While it has been dethroned by the documentary Unknown Number: The High School Catfish on Netflix’s weekly global chart of the most-watched English-language movies, this marks the first time that any movie or show has ever hit the 291 million milestone on the streaming platform.
The previous high for Netflix came from Squid Game season 1. The South Korean smash hit, which recently concluded with its third season, only garnered 265.2 million views for its first season during its first 91 days.
What This Means For KPop Demon Hunters
The higher KPop Demon Hunters climbs, the more it secures its position as Netflix’s biggest hit of all time. It has already long exceeded the 230.9 million views earned by 2021’s Red Notice, which was their No. 1 most-watched movie for four straight years. Because of how much it has widened the gap, the musical could potentially reign for even longer.
