KPop Demon Hunters Star Recreates Mira’s Greatest Met Gala Dress In Real-Life

A striking KPop Demon Hunters look has made it into the real world, reimagined for one of the most prestigious events in the music industry for one of the smash-hit movie’s stars. KPop Demon Hunters is the most-watched Netflix movie of all time, following a trio of K-pop stars who moonlight as hunters, featuring chart-topping songs and quirky, relatable comedy.

One of the funniest moments from KPop Demon Hunters is the brief reference to Huntr/x’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅpan choreographer Mira (May Hong) having worn a literal black sleeping bag to the Met Gala, making fun of some of fashion’s most nonsensical looks. But this beat is also entirely true to Mira’s character, who is cool enough to pull off absolutely anything.

Even more amusing and impressive is that singer and rapper Audrey Nuna (who provides Mira’s vocals in KPop Demon Hunters) wore a sleeping bag-like dress to the 2025 VMAs. Check out the look in a post shared by Netflix below, with the caption lifted from the movie, “Who else could wear a sleeping bag to the Met #VMAs?“:

Admittedly, Nuna’s ensemble is not quite as audacious as Mira’s straightforward sleeping bag, as it is styled to look more like recognizable clothing, as a kind of jumpsuit with a dress-like train. But the puffy material is clearly meant to be a sleeping bag, which is cleverly utilized for the jacket and boot elements (paired with a great hairstyle).

What Audrey Nuna’s VMAs Look Means For KPop Demon Hunters

KPop Demon Hunters is the unprecedented hit of the summer, breaking streaming records and dominating music charts on its way to becoming a true global phenomenon. KPop Demon Hunters 2 is being negotiated between Netflix and Sony, with both likely eager to start production on a sequel as soon as possible, while the flagship is ostensibly a shoo-in for Best Animated Feature.

Songs and references from KPop Demon Hunters are everywhere, and Nuna donning a look inspired by Mira for the VMAs is another, albeit more unique, example of the movie’s stronghold in pop culture. Even if people might critique the outfit from a strict fashion perspective, many more will appreciate it as a reference to the beloved movie and all that Mira’s character represents.

It might have been even better to see Mira’s exact look on the red carpet, which is essentially just a sleeping bag, but fans and maybe even another star from the movie will take care of that at one point or another. It would also be amazing to see other formal attire inspired by the Netflix fantasy musical adventure — the fans would absolutely love it.

The cast and crew of KPop Demon Hunters are likely to be at some other major events in the film and music industries in the coming year, while the fandom will continue to come up with creative ways to celebrate the movie. But for now, Audrey Nuna’s VMAs attire is the latest to-be-iconic moment in the saga of the rise of this pop culture phenomenon.
