10 Most Powerful Characters Confirmed To Appear In Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is set to shake up the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a variety of ways, with a stacked lineup of some of the most powerful on-screen heroes ever seen. Since 2008, the MCU has introduced dozens of heroes and villains who have helped to redefine the superhero genre.

And while not every character possesses superhuman strength, or powers that could potentially bend reality to their will, there are more than a few formidable figures who are set to return at the end of the Multiverse Saga.

Thor

Starting strong, with a literal god, Thor stands out as one of the most powerful original Avengers. As the Asgardian God of Thunder, Thor has grown a lot since his first appearance, and acquired some powerful tools along the way, such as his axe, Stormbreaker.

Not only can he command lightning, but Thor’s strength has been seen to rival that of the Hulk, and he has withstood incredible pressure that would kill most immortal beings. Thor is a spectacular hero in the MCU, and someone whose powers set the baseline for top-tier heroes.

Sentry

However, Thor may finally have some compeтιтion thanks to new arrivals like Sentry. Sentry is a man-made hero, formerly known as Bob Reynolds, who was experimented on by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and her colleagues at OXE Group.

Bob was given an enhanced version of the super soldier serum Steve Rogers took, which killed most of the test subjects. However, despite being positioned as more powerful than gods, Sentry’s true power has yet to be properly tested, and with his dark side alter ego, Void, presenting an immense threat, Bob is reluctant to tap into his powers.

Loki

Loki was the first villain that the Avengers teamed up to fight back in 2012’s The Avengers, and since then, that version of the character has been redeemed and heartbreakingly killed. However, the MCU introduced a new variant that had a considerably different trajectory as seen in the Multiverse Saga.

In the series, Loki, this version of the hero went on to save the Multiverse, and gain the ability to control and navigate time and space at will. With these powerful upgrades, Loki potentially stands out as one of the most formidable heroes in the entire MCU.

The Invisible Woman

The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduced Marvel’s First Family to the MCU, but one surprising reveal was just how powerful Sue Storm has proven to be. Despite the comics version of the character being shown to have incredible power, movies have been less ambitious when adapting The Invisible Woman, until now.

First Steps saw Sue Storm wield her incredible powers under extraordinary circumstances. Such as concealing an entire spaceship from a cosmically powerful being while going through labor, and pushing Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, through the streets of New York and into a portal through sheer will and strength.

Sue Storm’s powers have likely increased since these events, and she may well prove to be one of the most powerful beings in the entire multiverse.

Professor X

Professor X is an Omega-level mutant whose powers far exceed the majority of other mutants. And with Patrick Stewart reprising his role from the Fox X-Men films, we are sure to see a powerful and mature version of this hero.

As the leader of the X-Men, Charles Xavier has a wealth of experience training, fighting, and working alongside powerful heroes and villains. His presence in Avengers: Doomsday is sure to be significant, and he may prove invaluable in fighting Doctor Doom and preserving the multiverse.

Magneto

Charles Xavier will also be joined by an old friend turned rival, Erik Lehnsherr. While the pair initially worked closely together, Erik went on to become the head of The Brotherhood, a group of mutants who actively opposed humans, and positioned themselves as the next step in evolution.

Again, Magneto is an Omega-level mutant, and his ability to control and manipulate all forms of metal make him a formidable threat. He also has a wealth of experience which will make him an interesting part of the story, and someone who could prove to be unpredictable in how he aligns himself.

Namor

Namor was introduced into the MCU recently when he appeared in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. He rules the underwater kingdom of Talokan, and also possesses mutant genes. When Namor consumed a special blue plant that contained Vibranium, it altered his physiology and enhanced his mutation.

Now, Namor has super enhanced abilities in addition to powers like flight, aquatic telepathy, and the ability to survive underwater. Namor is an impressive being, and someone who could overpower several of the heroes who have appeared in the MCU to date.

Tenoch Huerta, the actor who played Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, has been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but how they will fit into the story has yet to be revealed. Regardless, they will prove to be a powerful addition to the lineup.

The Human Torch

Returning to the Fantastic Four, Sue’s younger brother, Johnny Storm, may also prove to be one of the most powerful heroes to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Especially considering the character also appeared to get a power upgrade in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

While previous films have seen this hero appear more reckless and unstable than his peers, First Steps showcased a far more refined and mature version of The Human Torch. In addition to his impressive intelligence, Johnny appears to have mastered powers like absorbing flames, which haven’t been seen in previous live-action films.

Considering the fact that these heroes have been operating as a team and fighting together against powerful threats for four years prior to the film’s start, and a further four years leading up to the post-credit scene of the movie, this is sure to be the most powerful iteration of the Fantastic Four ever seen.

Mister Fantastic

With that in mind, it’s worth highlighting just how formidable Reed Richards is. The leader of the Fantastic Four, and the brains of the operation, Mister Fantastic’s powers may allow him to be incredibly flexible, but his greatest strengths lie in his profound intelligence.

In many iterations of the character’s history, Reed is described as being the smartest man alive. And it appears that the MCU is continuing this tradition. Reed was able to achieve faster-than-light travel, teleportation, and a wide variety of other seemingly impossible discoveries that changed his world.

While his physical powers may be considerably less impressive than his peers, Reed’s mind will likely be a huge contributing factor in helping to resolve and repair any damage that may befall the multiverse in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Doctor Doom

However, the force providing those immense threats may prove to be the most formidable rival to ever appear in the MCU. Victor von Doom rules a kingdom, Latveria, where he commands the adoration and respect of his people.

However, Doom’s aspirations reach far beyond the borders of his own home. As Doctor Doom, he is Reed Richard’s greatest rival, and a character who could spell disaster for the entire multiverse. Doctor Doom’s intelligence rivals that of Reed Richards’, but his motivations are far less noble.

While the finer details of his story in the MCU are yet to be revealed, he is being positioned as someone who far exceeds Thanos or Kang, and could potentially end the entire multiverse. However, with so many powerful heroes ready to join forces against Doom, it’s hard to imagine his reign could last very long.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to create one of the most tense and high-stakes stories to ever appear in the MCU, and the presence of so many powerful heroes and villains plays a big part in that. However, it remains to be seen who will come out on top in the most tense and terrifying MCU entry to date.
