Cristiano Ronaldo posted an encouraging message online praising Lindsey Vonn’s determination. He commented on her latest post that true champions are not only known for victories but also for refusing to quit during the hardest moments.

He told her the mountains she conquered were never greater than the inner strength she carries and urged her to keep fighting because great athletes always rise again. Zlatan Ibrahimovic also supported her, writing that surrender was never an option. The accident happened when Vonn clipped a post at high speed on the slope. She screamed in pain before rescue teams airlifted her to hospital. Scans revealed multiple fractures in her leg and ankle. Doctors discovered a complex tibia fracture along with injuries to the fibular head and the tibial plateau.Later, Vonn explained the situation had been the most painful challenge of her life. She said almost every part of the lower leg was shattered. The complication became serious because she developed compartment syndrome, a condition where swelling and trapped blood pressure damage muscles, nerves and tendons. She credited surgeon Dr. Tom Hackett for saving her leg. According to Vonn, he performed an emergency fasciotomy, opening both sides of her leg to relieve pressure and allow tissue to survive. She described feeling extremely fortunate and grateful after the six-hour operation rebuilt the damaged area successfully.Vonn added she believes circumstances align for a reason. She reflected that a previous knee injury years ago meant the same doctor was present to treat her now. The Olympic champion is expected to begin rehabilitation soon.
