Mark Ruffalo comments on the Hulk potentially making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2026 for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. With only a handful of new MCU movies left for Phase 6, one of the projects that is currently in production is the next Spider-Man installment, which will finally bring Tom Holland’s hero back into the franchise.
Since early August, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast has been filming the highly anticipated movie, helmed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. While very little is known about the project thus far, one of the reported details is that an original Avenger is taking part in Holland’s new entry.
In a new interview with ET Online, Ruffalo was finally asked about his return as Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, following the reports on August 1 that he would be reprising the role. However, the 57-year-old actor kept it very cryptic as he shared the following response:
I don’t know, I’m still waiting to hear. I haven’t read a script yet. Well, if it does happen, it would be [Laughs] incredible. I grew up with this, and it’s changed my life in the best ways. Each time, it’s a new director, a new world, and it’s so exciting. There’s nothing else like it. A TV show doesn’t change its world from one director to the next, and that’s what is exciting.
Jon Bernthal and Michael Mando are confirmed to be reprising the roles of Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, and Mac Gargan, a.k.a. the Scorpion, respectively. Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Tramell Tillman have also been added as new cast members, with their characters being unconfirmed.
What Mark Ruffalo’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Comments Mean
While this response may sound like Ruffalo is denying that he is part of the project, it is a very classic answer from an MCU actor, given the secrecy that Marvel Studios maintains surrounding their films and TV shows. Since they never debunked his initial casting addition, this is clearly a situation where they are still trying to keep his involvement a secret.
The fact that Ruffalo hasn’t read a script yet could simply mean that his scenes will be filmed later, which may be when he will finally get his material. In order to prevent leaks, there is bound to be тιԍнт security around the script, and it is only given to actors when the time is right.
Our Take On Mark Ruffalo’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day Comments
Given past instances where he has accidentally let spoilers slip, it’s funny to see how the superhero veteran is now тιԍнт-lipped about his involvement in this particular movie. This is just Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures wanting to make sure that the Spider-Man: Brand New Day story is as mysterious as possible.
Ideally, whatever they are keeping under wraps will be worth the wait, especially since this would be Bruce’s first appearance in four years by the time the film is released. Hopefully, future Spider-Man: Brand New Day set pH๏τos will reveal what is in store for Hulk once Ruffalo begins to shoot his scenes.
