Taylor-Joy was a hit on streaming in 2020 with the buzzy Netflix prestige miniseries The Queen’s Gambit. She made streaming waves early in 2025 as well, starring on AppleTV+ alongside Miles Teller in the hit romantic sci-fi thriller movie The Gorge.

Taylor-Joy’s theatrical films have also performed well on streaming services in 2025. Her satirical horror movie The Menu hit Netflix’s charts earlier this year, while her acclaimed box office flop Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga rebounded to reach the streaming charts on HBO Max.

The Furiosa star is now headed to TIFF for the premiere of her newest movie Sacrifice, a satirical action-adventure comedy co-starring Chris Evans. Even as her new project debuts, Taylor-Joy is seeing a film from 2022 enjoy a resurgence on streaming.

Taylor-Joy’s brutal revenge epic The Northman disappointed when it grossed just $69 million in theaters, but Netflix is giving the Robert Eggers movie new life, as it hits the service’s global top 10 streaming cart. Audiences may have given Eggers’ artsy thriller the cold shoulder, but critics wholeheartedly embraced it, and it currently sits at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Streaming audiences are now giving The Northman a second chance, pushing the 2022 film to #8 on Netflix’s global top ten chart for the week ending August 31, 2025. The Viking-era movie is nowhere to be found on the charts in Sweden or Denmark, but it’s big in Brazil, Mexico and the UK (via Tudum).

Eggers made a box office splash in late 2024 with his chilling vampire remake Nosferatu, a $181 million worldwide hit.
