LEGO Reveals First $1000 Set: Star Wars Death Star With 38 Minifigures

The LEGO Group has just released the official first look at its largest Star Wars set to date. Featuring over 9,000 pieces, LEGO’s upcoming Ultimate Collector Series Death Star is one of the most anticipated models ever. With nearly 40 minifigures and multiple scenes from the galaxy far, far away, the new model is certainly a sight to behold.

Releasing October 1st on LEGO.com for Insiders, the first official images of the new UCS Death Star (75419) are here, allowing collectors to get a good look at the truly mᴀssive LEGO Star Wars set. Below you can find a whole gallery of new images of the new UCS Death Star, along with our full breakdown of the exciting new model.

Coming in at just over 9,000 pieces, the new UCS Death Star is absolutely huge, it’s 20.6 inches high, 18.9 inches wide, and 15.1 inches deep. The new set will cost 999.99 EUR / 899.99 GBP / 999.99 USD.

Rather than being a fully-rounded Death Star model, this new model is effectively a cross-section, featuring characters and depicting brick-built scenes from both the first and second iterations of the battle station seen in A New Hope and Return of the Jedi.

Scenes include Obi-Wan powering down the tractor beam, Luke and Leia swinging over a chasm, the classic trash compactor scene, the Imperial boardroom, Palpatine’s throne room, and more. There’s even a secret room with a H๏τ tub, a reference to the hilarious secret room to be found in the LEGO Star Wars video games.

The impressive roster of 38 minifigures includes expected characters like Darth Vader, Grand Moff Tarkin, and more of the biggest original trilogy characters. However, it also comes with Star Wars characters who’ve never been a LEGO minifigure before, including Galen Erso, an Imperial Dignitary, and yes, a H๏τ Tub Stormtrooper.

All in all, the new UCS Death Star looks as though it will be an epic addition to the shelf of any builder’s Star Wars collection.

LEGO has also revealed that those who purchase the UCS Death Star between October 1st-7th will receive the LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack (40771) as a gift with purchase (while their stock lasts).

Additionally, LEGO Insiders will be able to redeem 5,000 points to receive a large poster of the UCS Death Star, and can also enter a giveaway between September 4th and October 15th for a chance to win a UCS Death Star signed by LEGO designer César Carvalhosa Soares (50 Insider points per entry).

A Brief History of LEGO’s Past Death Star Models

10188 Death Star (2008) Star Wars LEGO

2005 was the first time LEGO released a major Death Star set. An impressive large-scale model of the Death Star II (10143), this set had zero interiors or minifigs, a 3,449-piece model that was purely for display.

LEGO then released Death Star (10188) in 2008, a playscale model going in the opposite direction with fleshed-out interiors and minifigures, without exterior panels of any kind (3,803 pieces). 2016’s Death Star (75159) was essentially an update of the 2008 model, featuring upgraded features and minifigures, while largely retaining the same design (4,016 pieces).

Keeping that in mind, it certainly looks like this new UCS Death Star model in 2025 is a bold attempt to hit a medium between what’s come before, a new Star Wars model primed for display, while also featuring detailed interiors matched with an impressive collection of minifigures.
