Ridley Scott Details Priority Of His Next 3 Movies

With Gladiator II reminding audiences that Ridley Scott has no plans to slow down any time soon, the legendary director is already looking ahead to what’s next. Scott is known for moving seamlessly between genres, from historical epics to sci-fi, thrillers to biopics, and now, following the success of Gladiator II, he has revealed his next three upcoming movies.

Speaking with Dazed Digital, Ridley Scott confirmed: “I’ve got three films written, ready to go.” Detailing his upcoming movies, Scott said his next priority is a Bee Gees biopic, followed by a Western film тιтled Freewalkers, and a WWI film based on Covenant with Death, a John Harris novel he’s loved for 50 years. Check out Scott’s full statement below:

I’ve got three films written, ready to go. What I’m hoping will be next is [a biopic about] the Bee Gees. Then I’ve got a great western called Freewalkers. And then I’ve got a First World War film based on John Harris’s Covenant with Death. It’s a marvellous narrative that I’ve never seen before in a war film. It’s funny and class-conscious, because you’ve got miners mixing with middle-class men. You discover: one guy dies, just like anybody else.

This reveal gives fans and studios a clear sense of where Ridley Scott is heading next, and it is a lineup that spans genres and generations. The Bee Gees biopic marks Scott’s entry into musical storytelling, a notable first for the director. Given his eye for large-scale, emotionally grounded stories, it could be a prestige contender if executed well.

The “great Western,” Freewalkers, also aligns with a growing resurgence of the genre in recent years. Considering his prior success in historical epics with projects like Gladiator and The Last Duel, it’s easy to imagine a grounded, brutal take on the American frontier led by the famous director, and a Ridley Scott Western movie certainly befits his style.

However, perhaps most intriguing is Covenant with Death, a class-conscious WWI drama that could offer a fresh perspective on the genre. Scott’s focus on the working-class experience within warfare suggests a film with emotional depth and historical insight. Furthermore, if it’s such a well-loved book for Scott, there will definitely be a lot of pᴀssion behind the project.

Our Take On Ridley Scott’s Upcoming Films

It’s classic Ridley Scott to have not one, but three fully written films lined up, and even more so that they are all wildly different from each other. A Bee Gees biopic may seem like a left turn, but given Scott’s track record of pushing himself creatively, it is a move that could surprise people in the best way.

Freewalkers and Covenant with Death feel like more natural fits for his style — big themes, gritty realism, and characters caught in moral gray zones. If Gladiator II proves anything, it’s that Scott still has the fire to pull off ambitious, large-scale storytelling. Therefore, it’s clear that even at 87, Ridley Scott is far from finished.
