September 3 Will Be A Great Day For Millennial & Gen Z Disney Fans

Disney is one of the most popular brands in the world, and fans of their motion pictures are set to receive a real treat on September 3rd. With so many great live-action and animated Disney movies released over the years, audiences have developed great affection for the brand and the impactful stories it has told.

Many agree that movies like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast are some of the best animated movies ever made. Few studios have been able to match Disney in terms of both volume and consistency in quality, which has crafted so many zeitgeist-capturing stories for multiple generations.

Disney has turned its attention to live-action remakes in recent years, which have had some mixed results. For every Alice in Wonderland that grosses over $1 billion, there has been a Snow White, which has disappointed. Fortunately, Disney got itself on a good path earlier this year, which has helped to make this coming Wednesday so special.

Disney’s Live-Action Lilo & Sтιтch Releases On Streaming On September 3

Disney’s Lilo & Sтιтch remake finally comes to Disney+ this Wednesday, September 3rd. The live-action Disney remake opened to an incredible box office back in May, and went on to gross over $1 billion, making it this year’s biggest Hollywood hit so far, only behind the nearly $2 billion success of China’s Ne Zha 2.

Audiences loved Lilo & Sтιтch, and returned to it time and again in the cinema. While there were some controversies around certain details in the movie’s ending, audiences were drawn in by the warm script and the strong effects, especially for Sтιтch himself.

The film will go on to be one of the best films on Disney+, where it will be able to find an increased audience. With greater accessibility, it is certain that it will dominate the streamer’s charts for many weeks to come.

Like Thunderbolts*, which also opened in May and was just released on the streamer at the end of August, Lilo & Sтιтch was fortunately given a significant amount of time to reap profit for the studio in theatres.

This gap of time, marked at 118 days for Thunderbolts* and around 103 days for Sтιтch, shows that the studio is preferring to give longer wait times for streaming. By increasing this window, they are making the theatrical experience more urgent and vital.

With the state of cinemas, this is a positive thing. Audiences have been trained in recent years that new movies in theatres will be available to watch at home quickly, which has dissuaded them from attending theaters more often. Fortunately, by extending these windows of time, Disney is helping to make the theatrical model remain viable.

It is exciting that Lilo & Sтιтch is finally coming to streaming, and it is great that the film was given a decent run in theatres. Thankfully, the film will finally be available to stream later this week, where families, as well as Millennial and Gen Z audiences who grew up on the original, can stream it repeatedly to their hearts’ content.
