Mableton gas station shooting: Child narrowly escapes

The shooting occurred at approximately 12:39 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Texaco gas station located at 6430 Mableton Parkway (near the intersection with South Gordon Road), Mableton, Cobb County, Georgia. This was a daytime incident captured by security cameras.

Key details:
The victim was a man (later updated: Anthony Christion, 41, from Atlanta) sitting in a white SUV at pump number 1. He was sH๏τ multiple times in the leg (gunsH๏τ wound to the leg), and the vehicle sustained multiple bullet holes in the doors.

A young child (baby/toddler) was in the vehicle – the child was unharmed. After being sH๏τ, the victim quickly moved the child out the window or outside to a bystander (a customer in the store) for safety. This woman held the child while the victim was ᴀssisted.

The gunman fired several rounds (some sources later mentioned eight sH๏τs from a rifle) before fleeing the scene on Mableton Parkway. There is no initial information regarding the motive.

The victim received immediate ᴀssistance from Cobb County Sheriff’s Office and was subsequently transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, expected to survive.

Investigation Update (approximately March 17-18, 2026):
Cobb County Sheriff’s Office apprehended the suspect several days later (approximately three days after the incident) without resistance. The suspect is facing charges related to the shooting.

Police secured the scene for over five hours to collect evidence, focusing on the white SUV. There is no danger to the public following the incident.

Reaction:
The incident is shocking because it occurred in broad daylight in a public place, involved children, and has been described as “terrifying,” with the child narrowly escaping harm thanks to the victim’s quick action.
FOX 5 Atlanta has video footage and interviews detailing the scene where the victim handed the child to someone else.
