Pierce Brosnan’s New Netflix Murder Mystery Filmed Scenes At These Incredible Locations

The Thursday Murder Club, Netflix’s big new mystery movie, draws a lot of character from its excellent filming locations. The new film’s texture is uniquely British, and The Thursday Murder Club sees a cast of familiar stars in a context that feels surprisingly cozy and rustic, despite all of the death that surrounds them.

Featuring The Thursday Murder Club‘s powerful ending, the film does a great job of replicating the popular Richard Osman novel for the screen. The story follows a series of murders that center around the retirement community of Cooper’s Chase, and it was important to capture that book’s effective ambiance on screen.

Much of that is done with the locations themselves. In order to convincingly tell this story, much of the imagination that went into writing the novel and building its world had to be effectively translated, even with some changes from the book. Fortunately, that was done well with these great locations.

Aldbury, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom

Much of the story of The Thursday Murder Club takes place in and around the seaside town of Fairhaven. A fictional town, the new film had to transform an existing one into it for production.

This was done in Aldbury, a small town with fewer than a thousand people. The area was overtaken by production crews to transform it for many of the exterior sH๏τs in the new film.

Using this location helped to locate the story in the texture of a small, English town, fitting in with the cozy texture that the film was able to provide. The police station and other various exterior sH๏τs were used here to help Aldbury feel just like Fairhaven as it was described in the book.

Englefield Estate, Berkshire, England, United Kingdom

One of the most important areas in the film, Englefield Estate, was largely used to craft both the interiors and exteriors of Cooper’s Chase, the retirement home at the center of the plot. A beautiful mansion with lush grounds, including a church and gorgeous gardens, Englefield Estate easily slotted in as the fictional location.

Much of the film takes place here. Various looks at the staircases, the common rooms, and more were sH๏τ here, letting natural light come in through the expansive windows. The first looks at the тιтular heroes, examining their case in a main room, was put together in this lush and beautiful space.

Shepperton Studios, Surrey, England, United Kingdom

A number of scenes in the film had to be produced on a more careful and deliberate scale, which necessitated some of the production being filmed in Shepperton Studios. These interior sH๏τs helped to create the design of London, as seen in the opening scene, as well as various other important locales.

The apartments for each of the characters were sH๏τ here, as were the interior sH๏τs of the police station, where Joyce and Elizabeth go to speak with Donna early in the film.

Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England, United Kingdom

The Beaconsfield area was used for several sH๏τs in the film, extending all the way into Knotty Green, a nearby village, where The Red Lion Pub was used for an important scene. Early on, Ian Ventham makes a visit to speak with Bogdan, to embroil him in what appears to be a mysterious scheme.

Some of the roads in this general area were also used for various sH๏τs throughout the film, although concrete details on which ones exactly have not been provided. It is speculated that various external driving scenes from The Thursday Murder Club were generally seen in this notable and beautiful area.
