Ahsoka season 2 star Ivanna Sakhno has just unveiled three big secrets about Baylan Skoll. As the only confirmed live-action Star Wars show currently in active development, Ahsoka season 2’s story is important to the franchise’s future. Many are excited to see where the story goes after Ahsoka season 1’s ending, which had big implications for the New Republic era.
A big point of discussion for season 2 is the continued stories of Ahsoka‘s primary villains: Grand Admiral Thrawn, Shin Hati, and Baylan Skoll. Where Thrawn is concerned, he will likely face off with Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, and the rest of the New Republic’s forces now that he is back in the main Star Wars galaxy.
For Shin and Baylan, though, the future is more mysterious. Both are stranded in Star Wars’ second galaxy, Peridea, with Baylan seeking a primordial power that will end the cycle of violence wrought by the Jedi and the Sith. Shin, on the other hand, was left finding comfort in the bandit-like locals of Peridea.
Therefore, the stories of Baylan and Shin continue to be the most compelling parts of Ahsoka season 2. Recently, in an interview with The Direct, Shin Hati actor Ivanna Sakhno commented on Ahsoka season 2. Sakhno spoke about working with Baylan Skoll actor Rory McCann, replacing Ray Stephenson after his tragic pᴀssing, thus revealing some secrets about his role.
Shin Hati Catches Up With Baylan Skoll
One of the first reveals Sakhno’s update provided about Baylan Skoll is that he reunites with Shin Hati in Ahsoka season 2. In the final two episodes of Ahsoka season 1, Baylan left Shin behind, going on his personal journey to find the answers he was seeking. After spurning an invitation to join Ahsoka’s group, Shin joined the bandits of Peridea.
However, Sakhno’s comments prove that Shin and Baylan will reunite in Ahsoka season 2. Sakhno stated, “I get to see Rory nearly daily at the moment, and he has been amazing to work with.” This proves that, somehow, Shin catches up to Baylan during the events of Ahsoka season 2.
If Sakhno and McCann have been working so closely together, a reunion between their two characters is the only explanation. It will be intriguing to see what their dynamic is like after Baylan abandoned Shin, as there will likely be some bad blood there. Regardless of how this goes, Sakhno’s comments confirm a Baylan and Shin reunion in Ahsoka season 2.
Shin’s Leadership Of The Bandits Gives Her An Edge In Ahsoka Season 2
Another reveal that Sakhno’s comments have unwittingly shed light on is how exactly Baylan and Shin reunite. As alluded to, it remains to be seen exactly what takes place when Shin catches up to Baylan. However, with the confirmation that this does happen, the question turns to how exactly this happens, given that Shin does not know where Baylan is headed.
Baylan also got a head start on Shin, meaning the bandit crew she befriended likely helps her out in Ahsoka season 2. Logically, the bandits know the land of Peridea much better than either Baylan or Shin. With the latter confirmed to catch up to the former, the bandits should be a big factor in this being possible.
Alone, Baylan’s journey across Peridea will almost certainly be slow. So too would Shin’s, were it not for the bandits who know the layout of the planet and their mounts. In Ahsoka season 2, Shin’s bandit crew will undoubtedly give her an edge, allowing her to catch up to her former master.
Shin Doesn’t Wind Up With Ahsoka & Sabine (At Least At First)
Perhaps one of the biggest theories in Ahsoka season 1, which was even teased by the time the show ended, was that Shin Hati would team up with Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren. This was teased in the aforementioned moment when Ahsoka offered Shin that chance, which the latter turned down.
Thanks to Sakhno’s comments about filming with McCann, it is safe to ᴀssume that Shin does not team up with Ahsoka and Sabine in Ahsoka season 2 either. Sakhno has confirmed that Shin and Baylan will reunite, likely to the point where Shin rejoins her old master and tries to fulfill his goals.
This would mean that the long theorized switch from bad to good will not come in Ahsoka season 2 for Shin, at least not in the early stages of the season. Of course, it is possible that Shin eventually defects to Ahsoka’s side in the latter episodes of Ahsoka season 2.
At the end of the day, it is still unclear what Baylan Skoll is searching for on Peridea. If this is revealed in season 2 and Shin disagrees with Baylan’s methods, she could easily join Ahsoka and Sabine to stop him and the other potential powers he unleashes.
However, this will only come after Shin and Baylan’s reunion. After Sakhno’s comments, it seems logical that Ahsoka season 2 begins with Shin and Baylan reuniting. If this relationship continues to develop, though, the seeds have been planted for Shin to join the тιтular hero and her Jedi Padawan, which will seemingly only come later rather than sooner, if at all.
