Is The DCU’s Justice Gang More Powerful Than The DCEU’s Justice League?

The DC Universe‘s Justice Gang has officially replaced the DCEU’s Justice League, but which team is more powerful? From what has been seen thus far in the DCU, there are some differences between the Justice Gang and Justice League. For one, the Justice Gang is corporate-owned, with the team answering to the DCU’s businessman known as Maxwell Lord.

In Superman‘s ending, the Justice Gang was inspired by the Man of Steel, acting on their own behalf as opposed to the will of Maxwell Lord. Peacemaker season 2’s story follows on from this by outlining the distrust of Metahumans who act on their own free will, all while officially replacing the DCEU’s Justice League with the Justice Gang.

In Peacemaker season 1’s ending, the Justice League appeared to help Chris Smith and the 11th Street Kids with the ʙuттerflies’ invasion of Earth. Peacemaker season 2 mᴀssively retcons this scene now that the DCEU is non-canon, replacing it with one involving Superman‘s Justice Gang. Naturally, audiences are now questioning which version of the team is more powerful.

The DCU’s Justice Gang Has Some Very Powerful Members

Firstly, it is worth exploring who appears as part of the DCU’s Justice Gang in Peacemaker season 2. The three known members from Superman are present: Mr. Terrific, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl. However, alongside them are two unofficial members of the Justice Gang – Superman and Supergirl.

As it is, this team is very powerful. Superman and Supergirl speak for themselves, with their Kryptonian heritage making them incredibly strong on Earth. The duo are two of the most powerful characters in DC Comics and can go toe-to-toe with the biggest villains (and heroes) the DC Universe has to offer.

Then there is Green Lantern/Guy Gardner. With his power ring, Guy Gardner is an overly strong protector of Earth, with his powers only being limited by the extent of his willpower, as is the case for all members of the Green Lantern Corps. Hawkgirl also has her strengths, from her superpowered physical attributes to her array of weaponry, her ruthlessness, and her flight abilities.

Finally, there is Mr. Terrific. Mr. Terrific is not as outright powerful as his team members from a pure brawn perspective, though Superman still proved how capable he is in a fight. That said, Terrific’s main strength comes from his brain, as he is considered perhaps the smartest human in the entire DC Comics universe.

Mr. Terrific’s IQ makes him invaluable in a fight, as well as most other situations, as seen in Superman with the interdimensional rift. Then there are Terrific’s gadgets, like his T-Spheres, which offer him a variety of attacks and utilizations. Overall, the Justice Gang is a very powerful DCU team.

The DCEU’s Justice League Is Iconically Powerful

When looking at the DCEU’s Justice League, it is similarly powerful from an iconicity standpoint. Of course, there is Henry Cavill’s Superman, who has the same level of Kryptonite powers as David Corenswet’s. Superman’s death was one of the main catalysts for Steppenwolf’s invasion of Earth in the DCEU, as the villain knew just how powerful the Kryptonian was.

The Justice League also had two characters who could stand up to Kryptonians in Wonder Woman and Aquaman. Each character had a similar level of strength, speed, and durability, with the former having access to her magical items and the latter having his water-based powers.

To round out the iconic DC trinity, the DCEU’s Justice League had Batman. Batman is incredibly intelligent with his own gadgets, vehicles, and tactics. The DCEU’s Batman was also perhaps the most physically threatening version of the character ever shown in live-action.

Finally, there are Cyborg and The Flash, both of whom are iconic DC heroes in their own right. Cyborg’s technological skills set him apart from the team, as do Flash’s speed-based powers, including time travel. The DCEU movie timeline may have been unfocused, but the Justice League’s power was evident.

If pitting the DCU’s Justice Gang against the DCEU’s Justice League, it is hard to argue against the latter team winning. In terms of IQ, Batman can match up to Mr. Terrific, with the latter likely also being subdued physically by Flash or Cyborg. In fact, Batman alone is a significant boost for the Justice League.

Batman is known for his contingency plans, which would likely see him triumph over many of the Justice Gang’s members. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman could then stand off against the Justice Gang’s Krpytonians. Guy Gardner is somewhat of a wildcard, but I still do not see how he alone renders the Justice Gang more powerful than the Justice League.

The DCU’s Superhero Team Will Eventually Become More Powerful Than The DCEU’s

Despite the Justice League probably edging out the DCU’s Justice Gang, I expect the latter to eventually become more powerful than the former. James Gunn has spoken at length about the DCU’s Batman and Wonder Woman projects. Both are coming in the near future, and will likely join the DCU’s team after their solo ventures.

Moreover, 2026 will see the release of Lanterns, which will introduce two incredibly powerful Green Lanterns: John Stewart and Hal Jordan. It is likely that at least one, if not both, of these characters will form part of the DCU’s eventual Justice League. This is also without mentioning Metamorpho, a character who joined the Justice Gang in Superman.

Overall, the potential of the DCU’s superhero team is much higher than that of the DCEU’s. Peacemaker season 2 may not include the most powerful version of the Justice Gang, nor one that can eclipse the DCEU’s Justice League, but there is no denying that the DC Universe‘s future will change this down the line.
