Hulu‘s new heist movie, which has failed to impress critics, is performing well on a major streaming chart. Hulu is a streaming platform owned by Disney Streaming that is best known for its television offerings, including popular series such as the comedy whodunit Only Murders in the Building and the Sterling K. Brown-led thriller Paradise.
However, the streamer’s output is not limited to episodic storytelling. There have been a number of notable Hulu original movies, including franchise installments such as Prey, Predator: Killer of Killers, and 2022’s Hellraiser, comedies including the White Men Can’t Jump Remake and Summer of 69, and a brand-new heist movie.
Eenie Meanie Is Already Surging On Streaming
2025’s Eenie Meanie has already landed on a major streaming chart after its debut on Hulu on August 22. The heist movie stars Samara Weaving as a former getaway driver who reluctantly takes on another job to save her ex (Karl Glusman). The Eenie Meanie cast also includes Andy Garcia, Jermaine Fowler, Randall Park, Steve Zahn, and Marshawn Lynch.
Eenie Meanie reviews have been mixed, with critics so far giving it a score of just 44% on Rotten Tomatoes. While this score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, the movie (which was written and directed by Shawn Simmons) officially has a splat on the Tomatometer.
Now, just a day after it premiered on the platform, Eenie Meanie has surged to No. 8 on the weekly chart of the most-watched тιтles in the United States on Hulu. It is the second highest-performing movie on the platform, behind the streamer’s new survival thriller The Bayou (No. 3).
All six of the other тιтles ahead of it are television series, including Alien: Earth (No. 1) and The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox (No. 2). Additionally, the movie, which is primarily available via Disney+ internationally, has charted on that platform in more than a dozen regions, peaking at No. 3 in seven territories, including Albania, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia.
Our Take On Eeenie Meanie’s Streaming Success
The fact that the movie is already performing well compared to nearly every other movie on Hulu could be a good sign. However, it ultimately remains to be seen if the movie can continue to climb the chart and how long it is able to remain in the Top 10.
If it shows strong viewership on Hulu over the next few weeks, the movie could overcome its mixed reaction from critics. While the ending of Eenie Meanie does not necessarily leave the door open for a sequel, this could be a sign that more action-packed, female-led movies in a similar vein could be coming to Hulu sooner than later.
