The Maika Monroe and Jason Isaacs-led horror movie Victorian Psycho has officially found a new home. Isaacs is best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movie series. More recently, he played the standout role of Timothy Ratliff in the HBO series The White Lotus.

Horror is not Isaacs’ most common genre, but it is one that he has dabbled in before. Back in 2016, Isaacs starred in the Gore Verbinski-helmed feature A Cure for Wellness, which also featured scream queen Mia Goth. As such, Victorian Psycho is a chance for the dramatic actor to delve back into this genre.

Bleecker Street has now confirmed that they will take over the rights to Victorian Psycho. The movie will begin shooting in Ireland later this week. It is set for eventual release in 2026, though an exact release date has not been revealed. Bleecker Street CEO Kent Sanderson spoke highly of Victorian Psycho in a statement found below:

“We are proud to partner with this incredible creative team on Victorian Psycho. Zach [Wigon]’s vision is thrilling, and we know every frame will be shocking, unique, and for lack of a better word, cutting. Backing this film continues Bleecker’s mandate of supporting exciting voices and bringing entertaining, impactful films from across all genres to theaters.”

What This Means For Victorian Psycho

This announcement comes after some significant production shakeups happened for Victorian Psycho. The film was originally bought by A24 in December of last year. As per the original plans, it would start filming in March 2026.

The original cast was also set to include Margaret Qualley and Thomasin McKenzie. However, the movie later had a shakeup this spring when it was announced that Qualley had stepped away from the project, as had its initial United States distributor, A24. Maika Monroe joined in Qualley’s stead.

McKenzie stayed on the project even after the A24 shakeup, so she will join Monroe and Isaacs on the big screen. The movie will be directed by Zachary Wigon and produced by Dan Kagan and Sebastien Raybaud. The film is based on the book by Virginia Feito, who also penned its script.

With Bleecker Street now attached and a more imminent production schedule laid out, production will likely move along swiftly for Victorian Psycho. If everything goes smoothly, an exact release date could be announced soon.

Losing A24 as a distributor could be a big hit for a horror film, but Victorian Psycho has other paths to success. Between It Follows and Longlegs, Monroe has already proven herself to be a scream queen. She alone will be a draw for the more well-versed horror fans.

Bleecker Street is not as much of a horror mainstay as A24, but the distributor also has proven experience working with several cast members. They were behind Leave No Trace, which acted as McKenzie’s breakout role, as well as Mᴀss, a drama starring Isaacs. This will create a strong foundation for Bleecker Street as it moves forward with Victorian Psycho.
