Disney’s Long-Awaited Sequel From $427M Franchise Dominates Fandango’s Most Anticipated Fall Movies List

Tron: Ares is one of the most anticipated movies of the rest of 2025. It’s the third installment in the long-running cult sci-fi franchise and is set to follow an AI being emerging from the computer world into the real world. The movie, which was directed by Joachim Rønning, stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and Jeff Bridges.

The upcoming Tron: Ares is set to premiere on October 10, a date that is roughly two months shy of coming exactly 15 years after the previous installment in the franchise, Tron: Legacy. That movie, in turn, came 28 years after the original Tron. Together, the two previous installments cumulatively grossed $426.8 million worldwide.

Fandango has now released the results of their survey of more than 2,000 ticket buyers ᴀssessing the 10 most anticipated movies set to be released between September 1 and October 31 in 2025. The list has been topped by Tron: Ares, which was produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is being distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

However, the only other Disney movie on the chart is the Jeremy Allen White-led music biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, which is being put out by their subsidiary 20th Century Studios. The rest of the chart is dominated by other studios and distributors. Warner Bros. Pictures has the most тιтles on the list, with three.

What This Means For The Fall Of 2025

The fact that Disney does not have a monopoly over the chart serves to highlight just how much 2025’s Tron: Ares is anticipated by audiences, as it is not necessarily getting a boost from general Disney fervor for the first two months of autumn.

This could indicate that the cult franchise has continued to grow in the decade and a half since it last graced the big screen. So far, both previous movies have been modest successes at the box office, with the original Tron grossing $50 million against a reported budget of $17 million and Tron: Legacy grossing $409.9 million against $170 million.

If Tron: Ares has a somewhat тιԍнтer budget and is able to harness this anticipation to outgross Tron: Legacy, it seems possible that Tron 4 could be greenlit sooner rather than later, becoming the first installment in the franchise to debut without a major delay.

Our Take On Fandango’s Fall 2025 List

Despite Tron: Ares‘ domination, the Fandango chart shows that audiences are interested in a wide range of genres and budget levels, which is a good sign for box office growth. The fact that smaller movies like the Aziz Ansari comedy Good Fortune are performing well alongside the season’s expected horror тιтles could mean that theatrical success won’t be limited to franchise tentpoles.
