Jurᴀssic World Rebirth Theory Reveals Secret Connection To The Original Movie (& It Could Define The Seque

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is a much-needed departure from the previous trilogy of Jurᴀssic movies, but it still has some important franchise connections that may step into the spotlight in future sequels. Jurᴀssic World Rebirth’s new cast of characters helps the spin-off forge its own idenтιтy, while these franchise Easter eggs should keep audiences coming back for more.

The Jurᴀssic franchise has a troubled history of sequels not getting made, and while there are no official plans for Rebirth 2 at the moment, it would be a huge shame if the seeds that were planted in the most recent movie never got the chance to bloom. There’s a lot of subtle set-up in Rebirth that could go unnoticed at first.

Parker-Genix Could Be A Shell Company For Jurᴀssic Park’s InGen

Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is the first movie in this long-running sci-fi franchise where InGen, the morally ambiguous tech company responsible for building the original Jurᴀssic Park, seemingly isn’t involved in the narrative at all. Even in the Jurᴀssic World sequels, InGen had been folded into the Masrani Corporation, meaning it was still technically responsible for the operations of the park.

In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, it’s mentioned at the very beginning of the movie that InGen has gone bankrupt and the majority of their loose ᴀssets were absorbed by Parker-Genix, the pharmaceutical company responsible for sending Zora and Henry on their expedition to Île Saint-Hubert. However, one Jurᴀssic World Rebirth theory suggests the old corporation isn’t quite ᴅᴇᴀᴅ after all.

The sequel’s prologue shows the workers of an InGen research facility on Île Saint-Hubert getting slaughtered by an escaped Distortus Rex. This is the same facility that Zora, Henry, and Martin Krebs end up at during the ending of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, raising the question of how Krebs knew so much about what they could expect to find there.

Of course, it’s possible that Parker-Genix simply knows about this facility and its experiments because of the information they were given after absorbing InGen’s ᴀssets, but Krebs’ secrecy about the project suggests this isn’t the case. Instead, it’s arguably more likely that Parker-Genix is merely a shell company for InGen, allowing the tech giants to continue their illegal research under a different name.

Not only would this explain why Parker-Genix was so interested in gathering samples from InGen’s abandoned facility, but it could also shed some light on what the company’s plans are for the future. Maybe Krebs’ promise of curing heart disease was just a ruse, and the company has more sinister intentions for the samples that Zora and Henry retrieve from Île Saint-Hubert.

What This Means For The Future Of Jurᴀssic World

It’s unclear exactly what InGen’s motive would be if this theory turns out to be true, but it definitely seems like an effective way to bring the franchise’s best recurring antagonist back for this new era. The fate of InGen has never been resolved in the Jurᴀssic movies, and it seems awfully convenient that the company has mysteriously gone bankrupt between the most recent installments.

The revelation that Parker-Genix is actually InGen in disguise would not only anchor Jurᴀssic World Rebirth within the main storyline of the Jurᴀssic Park franchise, but it would also set the stage for InGen to return in some capacity as this spin-off series’ overarching villain. Krebs would merely have been a decoy; an InGen employee hiding under the guise of a legal technicality through Parker-Genix.

There’s been no confirmation that a sequel to Jurᴀssic World Rebirth is in the works, but it clearly would have been the intention of the film’s writers to plant the seeds for future storylines just in case a sequel does get made. This franchise has always performed brilliantly at the box office, so there’s no question that the studio would be interested in making more.

Parker-Genix works well enough as a one-off villain if this truly is the last Jurᴀssic movie for a while, but the InGen reveal also succeeds as a backup plan if Rebirth turns into a series. It would elevate the franchise without necessarily retconning anything in Rebirth, which is the trademark of a well-planned and well-executed twist.

There are plenty of twists teased in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, but this feels like the most natural and exciting. InGen has been such a mᴀssive part of this franchise from the beginning, and while the Jurᴀssic World trilogy attempted to move away from them as overarching villains by merging the company with the Masrani Corporation, they just kept coming back for more.

Although it’s great to see that the Jurᴀssic franchise can survive without unnecessary fan service and references to previous movies, it would undeniably be great fun to see InGen come back with a vengeance. One of the biggest criticisms of Jurᴀssic World is that InGen never felt as powerful as they did in Spielberg’s movies, but revealing this scheme with Parker-Genix would prove those criticisms wrong.
